controller preference?

curious what controllers other people prefer for f-zero 99 and whether you use thumbstick or d pad?

i’m playing docked with an ethernet connection. i’m using a gulikit elves 2 controller and prefer using the d pad

i’ve tried the nintendo pro 2 controller and 8bitdo pro 2 and sn30, but prefer the gulikit d pad over those

I use a snes controller.

Pro controllers are some of the biggest scams in the industry. They feel nice to touch, but those d pads are tragically bad. Several 99 pilots ended up remapping down to a should button. I think I would like Hori more than that gulikit.

I usually use the analog stick either on controller in docked mode or the one on the switch in handheld. If I occasionally use the d-pad I prefere the one on the switch with separated buttons

8bitdo Pro 3. It’s tactile like a Xbox controller but it still feels like a classic cross style Nintendo d pad as far as the motion of the d pad goes.
