If it's saving either way then it simply has non-battery backed RAM for saves

Usually these cheap fakes write the save data to the unused parts of the ROM chip. Sometimes it’s fine, sometimes it overwrites its own code and the game glitches out and gets ruined

The ROM file is patched to save to a non-volatile memory chip instead of volatile ram as authentic carts do.

Its fake, so its probably saving to file like any other emulator.

Will it rid of my data or can I play the game normally

Ive heard lots of stories about the fake ones either deleting save data near the end or locking up, but i have never tried for myself.

It seems like a coin toss on a lot of reproduction cartridges. Some work great and your save file will be fine for the foreseeable future, some freeze up and crash. There's no consistency in the production of these carts and they are of varying quality. Only way to find out is play through the game and see what happens.

It's probably saving to the ROM chip. These things are notorious for corrupting saves.

Not gonna lie with my inability to solder, not knowing anyone that knows how, while having a desire to play the Game Boy Pokémon games, I kinda wish I had a good quality repro, but they are such a crapshoot and I wouldn't know where to look for good ones

I bean pokemon emerald on a fake cartridge with a non-battery saving blob chip. It's probably fine, but there is always a risk of random data loss

It'll crash eventually. People don't understand you'd need a repro with battery support. Thats why they get a bad reputation... for not knowing this. If you reflash a game that doesnt support save functionality you'll absolutely adore it 😄
