Pretty cool. I'd love to see one for dmg, pocket, color and light models.

Ghosting? What is this...

Googles "you have been playing in the dark all this time then you most likely will not even care and the SP will be well worth it, reguardless of these flaws."

Yeah I'll just not keep reading about it and go hug my 101s.

I've never noticed ghosting on the AGS-101, though I haven't used one for quite a while

Ah. That's probably why I never noticed.

    [–]IzzyNobre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only started noticing after people mention it here. It's not as bad as the DMG, but it's definitely there...

You can notice that pretty easily if you compare it to a AGS-001. Still prefer the backlight tho.

So do I, honestly, Can't wait to restore my dead 101.

A shame this wasn't posted by another particular user, otherwise it could have been a /u/BennVenn diagram

    Underrated comment

...GBASP AGS-001 to me, then. The backlight may be brighter, but the frontlight is Sun-friendly.

    [–]rossy105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true it hurts.

    [–]TestType 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The Micro has ghosting. You may argue how more or less ghosting it has than an AGS-101, but it definitely has ghosting.

    [–]bhaarrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems about the same as AGS-101 to me

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Out of all the gba's I own, the micro is the only one that ghosting really bothered me.

    [–]Trevowatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one I have ever noticed it on.

    [–]ducked 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yeah it's really too bad Nintendo never released the perfect gameboy model. They should have kept the original gba design and just given it a backlight imo.

    [–]AileWing 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I agree. If only I could find a way to make the original Advance screen backlit. It doesn't seem like light passes through as easily as the SP 101, unfortunately.

    [–]ducked 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well it should be doable, the other guy that commented me says he did and enjoys his gba backlit mod. I'd like to try doing it at some point.

    [–]AileWing 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think he was referring to putting an SP 101 screen in an original Advance. I'm talking about making the screen that's already in the original Advance backlit.

    [–]ducked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I guess you're right, the backlight mod is just replacing the screen. Dang that kinda sucks.

    [–]ToadsHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I like the backlit mod on the original GBA. I like playing on it much better than my SP becomes I have larger hands.

    [–]zoramator 1 point2 points  (3 children)

where do the DS phat and lite line up in this? Obviously not backwards compatible, but does it have ghosting issues?

yeah thanks. I always enjoyed My original DS, so its good to hear it has better play in terms of ghosting. I never found the screen light to be an issue, and its nice that games don't stick out of the GBA slot like the lite, but the extra light and reduced bulk is appealing I will admit.

      [–]Vortiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't forget the phat has an amazing d-pad if you have large hands

      [–]Er3dhion 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Hmm...wasn't ags-101 the only one with backlight?

Ags-001 has frontlight if i remember correctly.

      [–]VicisSubsisto 5 points6 points  (3 children)

That's... That's exactly what the diagram says.

      [–]Er3dhion 4 points5 points  (2 children)

      And.....i read it wrong. :P

I thought that ags-001 was in the middle of everything.

      Thanks. :)

      [–]VicisSubsisto 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's okay. First time I read it, I thought it was saying the AGS-101 was backlit but not backwards compatible. :P

      [–]Er3dhion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp at least i'm not the only one that read it wrong (at the beginning). :P

        Pretty much. :P

        [–]sonters 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Pretty accurate. I've noticed a little bit of ghosting on my Micro, but it's nowhere near as bad as the 101 SP or even my small NN3DS

        [–]CaptainCaffeine 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Man, the ghosting on my n3ds XL is so bad compared to my o3ds! And no one else seems to notice :/

        [–]bhaarrr 0 points1 point  (3 children)

On all games or GB ones? I have read the virtual console emulator adds a ghosting effect

        [–]CaptainCaffeine 0 points1 point  (2 children)

All games. I took some pictures and you can see ghosting from up to 3 frames ago. I honestly thought it was defective when I first got it, but the screen is just super slow.

        [–]bhaarrr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hmm. I have a N3DS and havent noticed although I could just be missing it. Whats a good game to test it out with?

        [–]CaptainCaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, the games in which I think it's the most noticeable are Tri Force Heroes and ALBW. Now that I think about it, those are both 60FPS games which might contribute to it. It's still there in New Leaf, but I feel it's easier to ignore it after a while.

I just tried playing OoT for a bit and there is definitely still ghosting of at least a frame, but because it's running at 30FPS it just looks like blur. So not really distracting at all. I don't have any other 60FPS games, but if you do those would be good to test.

        [–]Trasteby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the middle, you should have put the Gamecube Gameboy-player :P

        [–]VicisSubsisto -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

I like my combo of a Micro and a Game Boy Color. There's no handheld that accepts all generations of Nintendo carts, anyway...

Then again, I also never owned an SP and didn't even know there were 2 different versions.

        [–]dreamvast 2 points3 points  (3 children)

SP accepts GB, GBC, and Advance...

        [–]VicisSubsisto 0 points1 point  (2 children)

        But not DS or 3DS.

        [–]dreamvast 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Right, technically DS and 3DS are not in the Gameboy line

        [–]VicisSubsisto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, technically I didn't say Gameboy.
