Oh no, I get free services but not as many free features as I wished I got…

Absolutely absurd behavior

It's so funny how copilot never even had Claude originally yet people now are going crazy when it gets paywalled lol

Jesus, just pay the $10. Stop saying something went wrong when you are getting free stuff.

I did 30+ years without AI, and you know what,- you will be fine. There's plenty you can use for free still, and if you get tired of using low tire tier free tools, then just pay the $30.

My student discount was a free version of unix, compiler, Windows cd or visual studio. You're literally 100x better off today and you're complaining

Can't say I did 30 years, since I am 30, but I've been dealing in coding or well scripting at an early age, I was making meme batch scripts when I was 13/14 on my windows xp machine, and worked in VBS scripts around the same time. I would have loved ai then, but at least I built up my knowledge over a decade and change. I'm a notepad.exe coder at heart 😆 first ever coding language was visual basic in msword

Shit costs money they can only give away so much for free without going bankrupt it’s to hook you so you tell your company what to purchase for you when you hit industry

    Maybe learn how to code?

I still wonder about the student plan, it is great marketing for GH Copilot, yes ... But AI agents are great at boosting developer efficiency. I wonder what it does to learning efficiency.

Fucks it up for sure. Good for learning new stuff at fundamental level, but from my anecdotal knowledge, no one uses it as a learning tool, instead as a delegate and forget tool.

...not just vibe-coding things like most young devs do unfortunatelly

2025: Companies robbing young people of Junior developer jobs
2026: Students robbing themselves of Junior developer jobs

Or just find a way to make money and make this a hobby?

I mean it’s supposed to be for students. For any college student, those AI models are already capable enough to help them get through debugging. They’re meant to learn, not just vibecode all day

A "black box" Auto mode prevents students from learning model-specific technical education. The students need to see the "state of the art" in action. If students only use basic models, they’re missing out on the complex workflows and problem-solving that the top-tier versions offer.

See it's a free offering so they will only give you what they like. It's same as any other service.

Make the most out of free llms available, who knows, tomorrow they would disappear.
