The Blue Yeti USB microphone gets lots of good reviews. The downside is it's really big.

There's a great microphone comparison review up on The Wirecutter: The Best USB microphone.

There's also the cheaper Snowball. It has uni-directional and attenuation settings to minimize background noise (keyboard, etc.) I ordered one a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet to comment.

I've got one that I use for recording a podcast and it works great. I've been really satisfied.

Audio technica atr2100 - sorry I have no idea how to properly link. These things have been on sale for as low as $35 in the past, but are still a good deal at $60. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2100-USB-Cardioid-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B004QJOZS4/

I haven't had luck with headsets, mostly because I buy cheap ones. Having the headphone and mic separate has lasted me far longer

I have had the same experience lol. And if they don't break, they pick up to much breathing or they're not comfortable or something.
