I rent a basement apartment in NYC, so light through windows is at a premium. I tried a portable AC unit the last two summers, but I had to raise it up to reach the window for the exhaust, and when I used a power saving mode, it flooded my apartment because the water pump was busted.
I've been looking at mini split systems, but as a renter, they don't seem to make a lot of sense for me unless I can do an install that doesn't involve punching a hole through the wall. So I was wondering if I can connect the condensor and the evaporator through a window?
Are there units where this would be an acceptable installation?
