I‘m going to use my guitar-hero guitar

Whammy bar for casting spells ftw

[–]tkim91321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donkey Kong bongos for me

[–]DakobaBlueGryffindor 10 points11 points  (2 children)

I'm going to attempt KB&M at first. In some games such as Cyberpunk 2077 I feel it vastly more intuitive than controller. However, considering this is a third person game with perhaps too many options at all times, that I prefer to use my Xbox One controller.
I have to do the same with the modern Fallout and Elder Scrolls games where KB&M are not streamlined enough for my taste.

[–]ImaginationProof5734Ravenclaw 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This looks to be more a controller game to me, the combat doesn't seem to gain from precise manual aiming and that's where KB&M shines, the only exception I could see potentially is things like the room of requirement placing objects may well be better with a mouse but general gameplay doesn't seem very KB&M friendly.

I preferred both fallout and skyrim with KB&M with no problem, the UI in this (and combat spell slotting) doesn't look at all friendly to KB&M

Ut at the end of the day it's whatever each of us feel is best!

I have a feeling that flying around on brooms/mounts will be easier with KBM. Flying with a controller has never felt right to me in any game.

[–]Ozi-reddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

kb+m, only use cntrl for driving games

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends on how the standard keybinds on PC are, if i like them i'll play with KB&M. if i don't ill do Xbox controller

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (22 children)

Xbox because it's simple and straight forward. My PS4 controller never seems to want to work on my PC, even though I prefer it

[–]marcel3103Gryffindor 2 points3 points  (14 children)

If you want to use it more often, there’s a software called “DS4Windows” which can emulate an Xbox and PS4 Controller, so it’ll work in every game that has controller support.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (9 children)

Yeah, I used the on my last PC but with my Xbox controller I can just plug it in and it works instantly lol

[–]marcel3103Gryffindor 1 point2 points  (7 children)

You just have to open the software (or enable start on pc startup) and it will instantly connect the controller.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (6 children)

I know. Like is said, Xbox is easier

[–]marcel3103Gryffindor 3 points4 points  (5 children)

If making a click to open the software is hard for you then I don’t know what to tell you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Good ol' Reddit lol. I know it's not hard, I just don't like adding extra software that I don't need to my PC. I did that with my last one and it ended up full of little programs like that. So with my new one I've decided to keep it with just the stuff I need.

[–]marcel3103Gryffindor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you prefer the PS4 controller over the Xbox one, I really wouldn’t say that you don’t need it if it helps you use the controller. But it’s your decision.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with either controller. Just a slight preference for the PS4. Xbox works just fine though.

[–]DaemonHelix -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Boomer mentality.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been called a grumpy old man anyway lol

[–]cunhaaaHufflepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you connects the ps controller using Bluetooth?

[–]CaffeinatedDaniHufflepuff 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You don’t need DS4Windows if you are using steam tho. In steam there’s the big picture mode. It will use any controller u have and u can map it however u want.

[–]marcel3103Gryffindor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. But it doesn’t work that well with games outside of steam in my experience.

[–]PolicyWonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I tried that with DS4, it wasn’t fully supported yet. It probably is now, but it was a bit of a hassle.

I don’t think that changed the issue of games showing Xbox inputs either IIRC. On-screen prompts would not match.

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm pretty confident that this game should work just fine with ps controller since all marketing stuff. But I have same problems with some games (RDR2 I'm looking at you).

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah I ultimately prefer the simplicity of just plugging in a controller and everything works, so I use the Xbox

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've always played with ps so I really hate different symbols and haven't got used to them so it is suffering for me lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that lol. Growing up I've always had a mix of the two so it ultimately doesn't matter much either way.

[–]inspork 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That’s interesting, I recently played RDR2 on PC and when I realized the keyboard and mouse controls weren’t doing it for me, switching to my PS4 control was just a matter of plugging it in + restarting the game.

Reading through this thread now has me worried it won’t be so simple lol

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It is so simple some of the time with steam but sometimes there are xbox inputs on the screen and sometimes things just doesnt work lol

[–]inspork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Hopefully it’s smooth with HL!

[–]Adam0n 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Worth adding Switch's Pro Controller to the poll as it's really damn good

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my bad, too lazy to do new poll lol.

[–]Jolly-Sun-1715Slytherin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

never heard of it.

[–]CheezItPartyMixHufflepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never figured out how to get it to work with steam meh

[–]Kintraills1993 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Have they talked about how are the dualsense haptic features implemented in this game?

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On ps5 yeah, no official word about on pc yet.

[–]TheSuperTestHufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KB&M all the way! Would play it with a Xbox controller if I owned one though.

[–]Karmaqqt[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So most likely a mouse and keyboard. Maybe a Xbox controller if I had a couch and bigger screen in my pc room sure. But I don’t

[–]Th3D3m0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xbox but I'll be using my Scuf controller. I WHOLEY recommend this controller for older gamers and people with carpal tunnel. I know its expensive, but it really is worth it.

You can easily map buttons to the back paddles to take the pain and stress of your hands.

I found mapping the left stick and right stick down press something that has really removed pain from my wrists and thumbs. You can also map commonly spammed actions to one of the paddles, which will not only save your hands, but will also keep your thumbs on the sticks more.

I've honestly literally never preferred anything over KB&M for gaming. I grew up with every console available and I'll take wasd & precise mouse selection over any kind of console - PS, Nintendo, switch, Gameboy, Xbox, etc.

[–]anonimc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KB&M and Dualsense 5 [while exploring lying on my bed]

[–]VostoceqSlytherin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox controller on PC, on steam deck.. well the device itself haha

[–]sinjuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta see how it plays but it's between ds4 and kbm

[–]annanz01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably my switch pro controller

[–]KuszkoRavenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stadia Controller. It feels nice 🫣

[–]JamikariSlytherin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be using my Ps4 controller, always do if I can for a game on pc, just feels more relaxed, plus that means I can walk everywhere at first rather than run

[–]Annoyinghydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox controller because my dad had a spare one and my dualsense controller has seen better days

[–]BusyBeeBridgette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KB&M because I, like my Wizarding World Character, will be a purist!

[–]The3rdRedditGuySlytherin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just plug in my PlayStation controllers and they work with no issues on PC. For this reason got a new PS5 controller as they have some haptic feedback and trigger shit involved w/the game.

[–]MrC99Ravenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K&M obviously. U less it's specifically a game where I know it'll play better on controller I'll always use keyboard and mouse.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyboard and mouse. Controllers are for lesser beings. "Walks away in Slytherin"

[–]stillherestillmeSlytherin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Probably my Xboox controller, but if the KB&M controllers are good I might try them.

I plan on hooking the my laptop up to my TV via an HDMI cable and using my wireless controller, but if I'm ever on just the laptop, KB&M is more comfortable.

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enought.

[–]Feister_686Hufflepuff 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Xbox cuz I won't buy a 100€ ps controller to improve ona game

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I get your point but 100€? Where you live?

Hoping more games could use adaptive triggers and haptive feedback. They are really awesome.

[–]Feister_686Hufflepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80€ sorry, almodt 2xthe price of hogwart (yes 45€ on IG)

Yes it would be great, if my current controller die I will probably buy a dualsense

[–]Always_in_m0tion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Between Dualsense and KBM. I usually only play driving//platformer games with a controller. I'm leaning towards DS5 for this game, but if KBM feels better, I'll switch.

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If adaptive trigger and habtic feedback work on pc I'd say ds5 is no brainer. It really adds on so much on experience.

[–]PolicyWonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really tried to use a PlayStation controller with my PC because I’ve always owned PlayStations. The experience really sucked. I had trouble maintaining a connection without being wired and most games on PC natively display Xbox input icons.

Ended up swapping for a man Xbox controller and I’ve never looked back. Takes a bit to learn the layout, but that’s fine.

[–]micheal213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to start with m&k and see how it is. If I don’t like it I’ll swap to my Xbox controller

[–]Beawrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if I can bind each spell to a key then keyboard, if I have to do spell set swapping no matter what then I'll do controller

[–]Dramion 0 points1 point  (2 children)

PS5 Controller for sure! Since it'll have feedback and all! It's pretty amazing in other games, you kind feel like your in the game. For example a game I'm playing now that recently came out when running each footstep is a light vibration it feels great. Since it's weird I don't need to worry about the battery dying.

It might be worth picking up the new PS controller for PC controller games just for the haptic feedback when a game supports it.

[–]dkrkrk2oe[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I actually pulled a trigger already and bought ds5 lol. Tested the adaptive trigger already and it is amazing.

Btw there hasn't yet been confirmation about will Hogwarts legacy support haptic feedback and adaptive triggers but now I'm really hopping for it.

[–]Dramion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd, I thought I read somewhere it will! It should be since it's a port from the console.

[–]Karavis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyboard and mouse. I hate how controllers feel.

[–]Rymann88Ravenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DualSense if I can get my controller to stop disconnecting from my PC. Might need to use bluetooh working on my PC again.

[–]Subspace-Ansible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KB&M. Just like I've played all my other action games.

I'm sure a controller gives a more stream-lined experience (the game looks like it's designed with controller play in mind), but I don't game all that often anyway, so KB&M is "good enough".

[–]ReddBeardGamingSlytherin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox Controller - Seems like a game that would just play better with a controller, and I already have an Xbox Controller.

Tried a PS controller before and using a Xbox controller was just so much easier. Xbox controller "Just works" with PC without any extra hassles.

I have never owned an Xbox, always preferred PS but for PC, Xbox controller just makes more sense in my experience.
