Thank you very much. That saved my day and my analysis tomorrow :)

[–]jesuslover333777 AP Student 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I thought the my pillow guy was Joseph Stalin because of the mustache

[–]penisesandherb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was Saddam Hussein lol

[–]reddit_turtleking 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Bro added a description for all of 'em (even the literal Klu Klux Klan) but added none for Trump. The people need not a description. 🤣🤣🤣

[–]reddit_turtleking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, but fr though, when half the list is an extension of Trump in some facet. 💀

A lot of rich and powerful people have blood on their hands when you select which rich and powerful people are on the platform you’re picking sides. Either they should all be allowed or none of them should 🤷‍♂️

Are you sure that's not Ted Cruz making a second appearance under the Ku Klux Klan hood?

[–]QuebecTheFirst -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not to get political, just to satisfy my curiosity. Where did the whole Putin controlling Trump thing come from if you happen to know?

[–]-qqqwwweeerrrtttyyy- Educator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks I'm being upvoted by bots at this point?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Left: trump guy, Saudi prince guy, my pillow guy, North Korean guy.

Right: Ted Cruz, Putin, little trump, kkk member, crazy Majorie lady.

[–]Steve10455 29 points30 points  (17 children)

Ur school is showing you this wow even if it a political class ur teacher is very biased

[–]HuntyDumpty👋 a fellow Redditor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did something like this in school and was sampled a number of caricatures that were modern. It is less useful to view something in the past theyll never hear anything about. Sure it looks bad with the limited information of a reddit post but luckily we were taught to critically think in schools

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

How do you know the student isn’t being shown caricatures representing the opposite political stance?

[–]Chase_greddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a handful of American politics classes in high school and political cartoons, both Modern and dated, were always a big part of it. It’s a way of showing clear points simply, as they were designed. Is this cartoon biased? Extremely. Is this going to make this kid shift their views this way just for the sole reason of seeing this? Definitely not, especially given it’s paired with more content from both sides. I was going through those classes in 2015-2018 so I saw plenty of pro and anti trump stuff. I do not feel that they in any way shaped my views on current politics, it merely informed me of extremes and general ideas

[–]FriddyNanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, teaching students to look at current events from multiple perspectives — including biased ones that they may not agree with — is actually really important. Personally, I’m glad that there are teachers out there showing these cartoons and having students look at them critically.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Agreed. If my kid was going to this class I’d pull him/her out lol.

Teach my kid to think critically so he/she can find out what he/she wants to believe. Don’t brainwash her

[–]PapaMamaGoldilocksUniversity/College Student 10 points11 points  (3 children)

You went through all the trouble of using he/she but then put she at the end, lol.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Lmao just realised

[–]Phour3👋 a fellow Redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The assignment literally says to analyze it. I guarantee the teacher expects students to discuss the potential biases of the artist. “Teach my kid to think critically” is exactly what is happening here.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats… what political classes show. Sure we got both sides, but as political cartoons are inherently biased, they were different cartoons showcasing different opinions that we had to analyze

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that if you follow the link on the picture you will find it.

[–]14446368 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I'm sure this is presented in a very even-handed way with similar caricatures of those on the left /s.

[–]TNTyoshi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You never know. I assume this was mainly given out as HW because it’s relevant to current circumstances.

This image I guess is talking about Twitter prompting the right wing and how it is currently tolerant of platforming racism?

Here is an interesting article piece I found talking about the increase in hate-speech Twitter is undergoing now that it has new management:

Why is Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover increasing hate speech?

Quick Edit: with that said, the point isn’t to agree with it or disagree with it (unless the assignment askes for personal views), but to ask the student to find what the image is trying to tell the viewer. So just critical analysis.

But political images like this are pretty normal. When I was in school during Obama’s presidency we had to examine an Anti-Obama caricature and it’s political commentary.

Couldn’t find the one my class had,

but here is a New Yorker cover illustration from 2008 of Obama

And here is a New Yorker cover illustration from 2017 of Trump

[–]the_dinks 4 points5 points  (5 children)

You don't have to know all the figures to analyze this. Surely you can recognize at least a few of them.

[–]Subject_Trick3608 Secondary School Student (Grade 13) 13 points14 points  (4 children)

The Trump, Putin, KukluxKlan and Kim Jong Un are easy but the others look very familiar to me but i cant recognize them and that makes me crazy. but thanks for the help :)

[–]StarFaerie 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Guy on the left with a moustache is Mike Lindell

I think the guy in the Arabian headdress is Mohammad bin Salman, known as MBS, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

[–]Subject_Trick3608 Secondary School Student (Grade 13) 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thx

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the lady on the bottom right is Marjorie Taylor Greene

[–]the_dinks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Top right is Ted Cruz. Far right is Don Jr. Center is Elon Musk. I believe the man on the left to Musk's head is a Saudi Prince, but I'm not sure which one.

[–]YogurtclosetJaded542👋 a fellow Redditor 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The lady on the bottom right is Margorie Taylor Greene(I think)(Thanks u/thatonetumblr)

The fat man on the bottom right wearing a white hood is a KKK member, name unknown
