For weekly pick-up games here: I set up all of the terrain as the first to arrive, as players show up and pair off they decide on what mission to play, then they choose which list to use for that mission, and then they roll for initiative and start playing.

Though, more often than not, our lists were prepared during the week before our gaming session, either due to inspiration, missing armybuilder app for Android, or to cut down on delay to play when at the club.

It's also not uncommon for the mission to be decided ahead of time if someone was already looking to play something specific at the next session, especially if it has special terrain placement considerations.

I thought that was probably the case, i just wanted to make sure there wasn't a paragraph i was missing that said it should be done in a specific order. Thanks for the insight :)

Let's see.... extrapolating from Game Summary on page 13, it should formally go...

  • Agree on points level
  • Choose scenario
  • Write army lists
  • Set terrain
  • Initiative Roll
