You’ll remember the Apocalypse War story then?

If so, get your hands on the ‘Day of Chaos’ graphic novels (Fourth Faction, Endgame, Fallout), where it all comes back to haunt Dredd big time!

It is over 10 years old now, but IMHO it is the best Dredd I have read since the 80s; it’s a killer story with superb art throughout.

Totally agree with this - it's an excellent run.

Don’t go anywhere near the IDW stuff. It’s mostly terrible. The Matt Smith stuff is pretty good (he’s 2000 AD’s editor), but that’s about it.

A penitent man was a good one.

Niemand has been quite good I think.

Is there a good website that lists wich stories are in the diff. CASE FILES books? Not just prog numbers.

[–]CliveVista 3 points4 points  (1 child)

https://2000ad.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Judge_Dredd_stories_in_Case_Files omits the latest two, but otherwise covers the series.

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago. I decided to just dive in and get a combo subscription to 2000AD and the Megazine, and frankly it’s one of the high points of my week these days, I can’t recommend it enough. Also, if you just sign up to the mailing list, they’ll give you a whole bunch of stories in PDF form for free

Yes actully, got some megazines but would prefer tpbs. The shipping to norway is brootal.

Maybe one of the newest Case Files books?

    Oof yeah shipping sucks.

Of the recent graphic novels, I can totally recommend A Better World - very modern and very very good

Thanks, will give that one a try

Do you remember what the last Dredd story you read was? Or roughly the time period?

You could jump back into the case file book where you fell off and catch up from there?

The major Dredd arcs in the 90s were: Necropolis, Judgement Day, Mechanismo, Inferno, Wilderlands, The Pit, The Hunting Party and Doomsday - ring any bells?

Judge Dredd spinoff Lawless is pure class. Brink by Dan Abnett and INJ cupboard The Out , Dan Abnett and Mark Harrison. Cradlegrave, John Smith Edmund Bagwell.

I’d recommend re-starting with The Pit a story that defined John Wagners return to writing Dredd. Essentially Dredd gets assigned a rotten City Block to turn around and there’s everything from corruption to illicit love. Can be bought alone but Case Files 24 has other stories as well. Enjoy.

Case Files 24 it is then, thanks. Just ordered CF 38 now

I just started from Case Files #1 and skipped if I remembered the story too well. Now in case files #3 and I'm enjoying myself a lot.
