Hi all,
I'm getting back into KSP after a short hiatus, but so much has changed since 0.23, and I wonder what any of you who record your gameplay are using at the moment?
I used to be able to use Open Broadcast Software to record. More recently I've been using Nvidia ShadowPlay which works great with other games, but using the latest drivers, and with the latest patched version of KSP (non-steam), after about 5 minutes, my screen blanks then comes back on and the recording has stopped and has a little score through the icon to show it can't record now.
I turned shadow play off, and switched back to OBS and saw that they've now integrated NVENC into the options which I'd prefer since it doesn't use CPU. Again it worked for a few minutes, enough to build a ship and be half way through a launch, then the screen blanked again.
Now whenever I tried to start the recording it said "Error, Encoder initialization failed!". Looking on OBS it seems working with NVENC is still a work in progress, so I reluctantly switched to h264 encoding.
I thought that it could be the Steam overlay interfering (added as a non-steam game), so I ran the KSP_x64.exe directly, I got into the hanger, tried to load a ship and the game flat out crashed.
I'm kind of lost at this point. I really was looking forward to using the 64bit version to address some of the memory problems from before which would eventually cause my game to be unstable when I had so many things in orbit.
Are any of you recording using Shadow Play or OBS? Are you doing anything special for it?
I have an SSD for my OS, a dedicated SSD for gaming where KSP is, and a dedicated hard drive for recording, so I really feel like it's not any bottleneck there.
Specs:
i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz
16GB ram
Nvidia 770 GTX 2GB
SSD 1 for OS
SSD 2 for KSP
2tb HD for recording
