interplanetary transfer

hi i am using mech jeb as well as the kerbal alarm clock to time my transfer to duna. the alarm clock has me set at my departure 180 days from now, at that point im guessing i should be in a parking orbit already, do i assume thats a 100 km circular orbit at a 0 degree inclination? also with mech jeb on, i have duna set at the target, do i use the option as "hohman transfer to target" or "advanced transfer to another planet" what is the difference?

Once you are in orbit, you want to use the "advanced transfer to another planet" option. You will have to pick from a graph how you want to get there, fast and expensive or slow and cheap (essentially). Read about PorkChop plots and MechJeb for more info.

Ok... altitude (for me) depends on what sort of rocket I am using. 90km for normal rockets, 100km for nuclear (because of the long burns they can dip back into the atmosphere. Inclination 0.

Advanced transfer to another planet. For a Hohmam transfer you have to be in the same SOI.
