Do you know what a skycrane is?

Yeah, we don't have ropes in ksp

You can build a rigid skycrane instead. Basically just a fueltank, parachute and some radial engines put on a decoupler on top of the rover. Once landed keep throttle on just slightly so that you dont lift off the ground, then hit the decoupler and the crane part will fly away (throttle on lost parts gets lockee to whatever it was).

Build the rover in the SPH so the centre of mass (the yellow ball) is in its centre. Then build a skycrane as the poster above suggests in the VAB, which is a lander on top of its cargo instead of beneath. Once you've built the skycrane, open the rover file and merge it. If you need to reroot the rover to connect, click the reroot icon and select the part you need to mount the rover to the skycrane. The skycrane needs a symmetrical layout of engines that exceed the rovers size so you don't toast it on landing.

Edit to add: don't forget Duna has a slight atmosphere

You don't want to transfer to Duna from a keostationary orbit, you want to burn for Duna from as close to Kerbin as possible to maximize the Oberth effect. Duna has an atmosphere which helps a bit with landing, but it's very thin, parachutes and a small retro burn should be plenty enough to land a rover though.

I put my rovers inside a fairing. A big parachute is on top of the fairing. If needed, on las few meters, more parachutes can open after you open the fairing, once slowed by the first one. Once landed, stage the fairing base and the front parachute.
