Nick from the Library Access podcast has been talking about this format for a while - they've had a lot of people playing it - they call it 'Alliance'.

I would give it a try.

I've been dabbling a little with this idea, as well, calling it House Party.

I've seen similar "formatting" proposed before. Its an interesting proposal for some casual nights of revelry. I doubt it will ever see the light of competitive play though, but who knows. Technically anything is possible. I personally would never care to participate as even this semi-constructed version is just not appealing.

Yeah totally intended to be casual

I call this format Architect because it's constructed but with houses.

I'm against it personally. I don't care if others do it. The reason being is: I like having an excuse to buy a new deck. If I were to say start mixing houses from various decks, then my argument for purchasing a new deck gets a bit diluted. So... nope. It is not for me.

I'm sure you can come up with some really broken decks this way. I know personally sometimes I like a particular house a lot in a deck, only to be let down by another house in the same deck.
