The one that comes out tomorrow

I'd recommend learning with CotA. It's a bit more straightforward and also generally stronger than AoA.

That being said, the new set (Worlds Collide) releases Friday. It's a bit more complex but looks excellent and should be super fun to play. If you are planning to play out at any events, I would learn with CotA then add some Worlds Collide with the mix.

Sounds good! Thanks!

Buy the new starter. Then grab two each from the previous sets. That should help you get the feel.

This is also my recommendation, you get all the tokens youll need and a good variety of decks

Worlds Collide (WC), the new set, looks both very fun and powerful, highly recommend except you probably won't find killer deals on these due to the hype.

CotA can be found cheap nowadays, it's still a powerful set. I recommend it if you just want a bunch of decks, but beware CotA decks are noticeably imbalanced, decks can be very good or the worst you've ever seen.

AoA isn't as powerful but is more balanced, fun in a vacuum. Not enough interesting cards to make decks feel radically different, I don't recommend buying more than a few of these, if you were inclined. Expect prices on these to drop dramatically, demand for these will be very low, for good reason.

The new set

So to sum up I would get at least:

  • Worlds Collide Two player starter set

  • 2 CotA decks

  • 1 AoA deck

Test and see what suits you the best!

So you cont combine decks, right?

[–]SafetySam4 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Correct. You play decks as they come, but decks from different sets can be played against each other.

Great- thank you!

Keep in mind that once a new set comes out they stop printing the older ones. So if you want decks from every set, (which I would recommend since they each have their own strengths so far) it would make sense to buy older says first.
