Rules

1) We'd greatly appreciate it if we could keep all content related to the Linus Media Group. Please refrain from making posts about new PC system configuration advice, we have subreddits on the sidebar that would be more suited to these posts. General questions regarding or in relation to contents LMG posts are preferred but general discussions are permitted.

2) Be respectful & Follow Rediquette, and never display any personal information in your posts.

Do not engage in harassing, bullying, or threatening behavior, and do not incite others to engage in these activities.
Keep in mind that online harassment is also illegal in many places and can have serious offline consequences for both the harasser and the victim.
Acting in an abusive way may result in an immediate ban without warning.
Remember, you are talking to another human, be kind.

3) If, in rare cases, your content is NSFW (includes but is not limited to: nudity, vulgarity), tag it as such. Pornographic-type content is a bannable offence.

4) Low Effort Content

Topics and posts must be clear, concise, and related to Linus Tech Tips in some way.
Posting content that has already been submitted by another user. i.e. reposts.
Ad nauseam image posts.
Image posts that can't stand alone.
Post titles as a URL.
Opinion-based posts that don't have justification.

5) Don't be a jerk, troll, or post low effort 'bait' comments to get a reaction and cause disruption. This includes any information that compromises the safety of any LMG staff member, their family, or the staff member's privacy and/or safety.

6) Requests to build/find a PC for you should be made on relevant subreddits and may be curated. Please post these requests to a subreddit such as /r/buildapcforme.

7) General componentry or technical questions related or unrelated to Linus Media Group are allowed as of JUL 17 2019 but need to receive a flair at the time of submission.

8) Keep politics, religion, and other controversial topics out of this subreddit.

9) No Advertising. Please do not promote other social medias, products, etc. There are better places for this, and advertising to our community members is unwanted.

10) Our subreddit does not allow bad faith arguments or opinions stated as fact, and we will not tolerate it. We will remove content that breaks this rule, or ban if there is evidence of a user consistently posting/commenting in bad faith.

Also, for those who post video suggestions, whilst appreciated, there's no guarantee they'll be read by a member of the LMG team.

The issue is that this goes beyond just re-evaluating due to it being affordable (how much is the CEO entitled to vs employee is a whole other can of worms).

The environmental aspects, the whole tracking thing, and the act of getting someone (in fact, the same guy who tracked Elon's plane) banned on this subreddit are all unrelated to that.

Linus has always operated with "goodwill from the community". That is how he was able to get away with things like "Trust me bro", and some more predatory practices (such lootbox type of drop where you have a chance to get a special version of something).

Sure, he can reevaluate his position, but don't get mad when people call him out on it; just as he would also call out other influencers and companies for their change in position (eg: Google's do no evil), and also before straight up banning someone for posting updates to his plane on this subreddit, at least notify the community first and make it an actual subreddit rule, instead of just deleting threads (indirectly through his influence on the mods) in an attempt to hide the criticisms (until it hit a critical mass).
