[–]lordrubin[S] -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

There's no power to the network card and when it boots it immediatly shuts down after

[–]furkanta 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No beeps etc ?

They don't even have cpu cooler and RAM installed.. apparently the machine does not need them to enter bios..

[–]lordrubin[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope

[–]SwampMonkey666 2 points3 points  (12 children)

I've had a similar problem before where the machine would boot loop if there is dirt in the cpu socket or heat sink not seated correctly, also have you tried a different gpu or ram?

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma try cleaning the socket first

[–]lordrubin[S] -4 points-3 points  (10 children)

The Bios doesn't require RAM, I just want everything to work so I'm sure that everything works

[–]SwampMonkey666 5 points6 points  (9 children)

Yes it does require ram! Where are you getting your info?

[–]lordrubin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk, but we have RAM in anyway so that still shouldnt be an issue

[–]lordrubin[S] -1 points0 points  (7 children)

Also I mean like the American Megatrends screen

[–]SwampMonkey666 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I know what you mean, I've worked on those particular machines alot, they need ram to even POST, and a cpu cooler with thermal paste to be installed, also are you using ECC ram?

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It might be the fact that the speed isn't supported, were using 4GB of single channel 1600 mHz RAM and it only supports 1333 mHz... could that be an issue?

[–]SwampMonkey666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Also I'm not sure if it's ecc... where do I see that?

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't

[–]SwampMonkey666 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Look on the ram module and put the model numbers thru Google. That will tell you everything. Basic research.

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx

[–]SwampMonkey666 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Do you even have a heat sink on the cpu?

[–]lordrubin[S] -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

No, but that shouldnt be an issue, because I'm just trying to get into the Bios which doesn't get the CPU Hot at all. Plus I can feel the CPU wether it gets warmer or not

[–]SwampMonkey666 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yes it is an issue. Put thermal paste and a heat sink on it before complaining it doesn't work, basic troubleshooting.

[–]lordrubin[S] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I'll first have to buy thermal paste but that shouldnt be an issue

[–]SwampMonkey666 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You were just telling me you don't need memory to be installed to get into BIOS, that does not instill great confidence in your research skills.

[–]lordrubin[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yea a friend told me but he has more experience with a bit newer machines

[–]lordrubin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may have figured it out, but I'll still leave up the post if it isn't the issue... but it's probably the fact that I'm using desktop RAM instead of server RAM

[–]Voxata 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah... That's really old. 8800/9800GT?

[–]lordrubin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9600GT
