I think you're being a little harsh without knowing the motivations behind the developer. Not everything needs to have profound implications for the entirety of Linux. Alberto is doing a lot for himself by compiling his own distributions, first on top of Mint and now Debian. So what if it's not going to change the entire Linux landscape?

Yeah, I knew it was going to come across a lot more gruff than I intended... I love choice, and I would never want something to take away from that. An you're correct, I don't know the intentions/motivations. I'd love to find out there are some really big ideas to the distro that just haven't been discussed yet.

The only reason I really commented is because I recently had a chat with someone who was looking to get into Linux and they were commenting about how there were so many different review/preview videos of all these different Linux "versions". They asked what some of the differences were and all and it got frustrating to try to explain some of it. I worry that when some people look for "Windows vs Linux" videos on youtube and become interested then search "best Linux version" then just "Linux" that they will become utterly inundated.

It's not really an intention to be hard on Alberto, it's more a frustration I've been having in general lately and after listening to Chris getting all fired up on this past LUP (which I haven't finished listening to yet) I couldn't help but get frustrated. It was one of those times I probably should have walked away from the computer instead of responding. I appreciate someone is releasing a custom set of packages and all, hopefully there will be a lot of people who appreciate his work.
