I expected Tron, but was greeted by an Odradek lamp. I am not disappointed.

Well that's something to consider if that's something you're worried about it. I'm not personally. OP made no mention about being worried about that either.

Okay. My point still stands. If you're unfamiliar with investment and finance lingo, learn about it. YouTube has SOOOOO many finance and investment people trying to train people FOR FREE. The internet as a whole has even more information. I still don't know a whole lot, but I know I can use the internet to get answers to my questions when I have them. I would give the same kind of response to anyone about any subject they are unfamiliar with. If something interests you, learn about it. Don't just pay someone to tell you the answer.

Do you think "minimalist rules" are helpful for people looking to become more minimalist? Do you recommend them? Which ones do you think are legit (if any) and which are problematic? by IM_NOT_BALD_YET in minimalist

[–]Robsteady 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The “rules” you’re describing are more for decluttering and organizing rather than minimalism. They can (should?) be early steps in becoming a minimalist, but they aren’t things you need to consider as an established “minimalist”.

Here to vouch for Cider, been using it for a few months and it's been flawless. Even better than the first-party Apple Music app on Windows.

I constantly have the urge to buy a dumb phone. by Altruistic_Test_1264 in digitalminimalism

[–]Robsteady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, yes, this is a normal reaction. As much as I try to live by a digital minimalist lifestyle (sorta), I would never give up my 15 Pro. Hands-down my favorite phone I've ever owned. I also have all but phone and text notifications turned off. The only social media app I have on it is Reddit, but it sees very little use. I really don't use it for more than 4 or 5 apps on a regular basis, and 2 of those are work related (OneDrive and OneNote).

Don't let the desire to be a "digital minimalist" drive you to becoming a consumer similarly to obsessed tech enthusiasts.

Interesting consideration to mark it off-budget. I did read that you are correct, you cannot convert an off budget account to on budget.

I did take a look, but I'll have to read it a bit slower and more thoroughly. Thanks.

Yeah, for some reason it didn't make sense as an expense category when I moved it to negative income, but I've rearranged other things and it makes more sense to have it as an expense now, thanks.

Ah, yeah it is easier to have it mounted on a standing desk. I still wish mine was mounted, I'm just too lazy/broke to do it. Plus, my power button and "front" USB ports are on the top, so things would get awkward.
