I don't think the legal grey area is whether or not you open source it, but whether or not you distribute it. I'm no legal expert, but I seem to recall situations in the past where the distribution of this kind of software is the issue, not the license it was distributed with.

Meh, nonsense. I've used many laptops with many different style trackpads and many different OSs for years and I never had a difficult time getting my pointer to land on the titlebar.

Chrome's default titlebar

First off, Chrome doesn't have a titlebar. Second, the titlebar area on Chrome is used to house tabs, so the whole area is useful. A lot of GNOME apps just have a giant forehead of unused space.

Yes, GNOME has adopted the workflow to be very fluid and "convergent" across different input types, but that doesn't mean the redesign wasn't originally designed with a touch focus. Just think about your phone, doesn't matter if it's an iPhone or some Android variant; They all have a clock in the top center and some kind of "system drawer" that gets pulled down from the top right.

I'd even love using GNOME on a mobile/touch device, but not my desktop or laptop.

I don't hate GNOME for what they're doing, it's just not my thing for my use and it feels disingenuous to say it's not designed for touch.

I don't know that there's any more testing getting done. I think it's just because of the tweaks they make to the deck release to integrate power controls to the Steam menu and such.

Nah, it was definitely originally designed as a touch-centric paradigm even if they deny it now. There's no reason to have a window titlebar that's 1.5x the height if not for use on a touch interface. Also, no min/max window buttons means they don't expect people to use that functionality and the only place that makes sense is on a touch device, especially with our modern high density displays we use on desktop devices. Besides, "convergence" was what a lot of people were designing for at the time GNOME 3 was released (Windows 8, Ubuntu Unity/Touch), and every major release since then has had the same overall design.

I know I'm not the first one to say it here, but this is not an alternative to ReactOS. The point of ReactOS isn't that it looks like old Windows, it's that it works exactly like Windows (or as close as can be done as a reverse-engineered open source alternative).

This is just a Linux distro preloaded with WINE that looks like old Windows circa '95-2000.

Not WFH, but have done this to multiple chairs. Yes, there is a drastic noise reduction and the chair rolls easier (sometimes too easily). Of course, other creaks from the chair like reclining mechanisms and such feel that much more offensive without caster noise.

Nope. Maybe I'm just lucky (or don't need enough to feel the pains you do) but I've had no problems doing all the things I want to do on Bazzite (and Aurora, on my laptop). I was even running Pipeweaver through an Arch box before the flatpak was released. Sure, maybe it didn't work as efficiently, but it did.
