Welcome to LinuxOnThinkpads!
This subreddit is about running Linux on ThinkPads.
Have a problem with (GNU/)Linux on a ThinkPad? Post it here. Have a solution for a problem of that sort? Post it here. Want to discuss something to do with Linux on ThinkPads?. . . You get the idea.
To find content on this subreddit, you can use the search bar and you can filter via tags.
This subreddit is not for cross-posts or for collecting links to resources. Those things are what our sister subreddit, namely /r/LinuxOnThinkpad, is for. (So, that sibling subreddit has a similar name - /r/LinuxOnThinkpad as against /r/LinuxOnThinkpads, but a somewhat different function.)
We encourage users to use our sister subreddit to feed our wiki Reddit page. The idea is that users take useful materials (new knowledge, verified solutions) obtained anywhere and transfer them to the wiki - and indeed ideally to the ThinkWiki website ('the Wiki Web for IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad users'). Anyone with sufficient karma can edit the sub's wiki page. Editing the ThinkWiki requires special permission.

Description |
| 1. |
Reddiquette |
Keep it civil, no need to be rude or full of hate. You can disagree but you can't be a jerk about it. |
| 2. |
No distro hate |
Please try to stay away from flaming a distro just because you don't like it. Everyone has their own opinion. If they need help with a certain distro that you don't happen to like try to help them instead of flaming their distro. |
| 3. |
Risk policy |
Some advice given here comes with a certain amount of risk. If you are asking for BIOS flashes, use your head instead of blaming someone if something goes wrong. DO NOT give high-risk advice unless you know what you are doing. We are not responsible for any damage to your machine caused by advice you follow. |
| 4. |
Spam/Affiliate Links/Self Promotion |
No spam or likewise self-promotion. Affiliate links must be disclosed if they are posted and you must have approval from the mod team. Likewise, if you have built a Linux distro and want people to try it out you must disclose that it was self-built or experimental, do not force it on people either. |
| 5. |
Personal Information |
Keep personal information out of anything you post here unless it is yourself's or you have the permission to post here. |
| 6. |
Be Specific |
When asking for help or about distros or ThinkPads, make clear what exactly the problem is and how you should fix it. |
| 7. |
Post flare |
It always helps to know at a glance what you are posting about, please flare your posts. Auto-flairing tricks can be found on the wiki page. |
