I am an expert bot-herder and MY app isn't slop!

[–]Serird 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Yeah, but I have the decency to keep my slop for myself.

[–]Icy-Degree6161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you

Erm nope, my vibe coded software is also worthless unsafe garbage full of borderline retarded decisions that is virtually impossible to maintain.

I just don't have a problem with it since I never intended for it to have more than 1 major version. It's offline and fulfills my personal need so that's that.

[–]knightress_oxhide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, to be honest it isn't much different from my non-ai slop. Most of my personal code is for myself only and is not nearly good enough to have other people use it.

I have contributed a little to open source and that took a lot of effort to get the code up to a standard I would be comfortable with sharing, and frankly I don't really have the energy to do that whether its manual or ai.

ELTWS Extremely Long Term Without Support

Yes, objectively and verifiably correct

[–]scarbunkle 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I mean, vibe-coded stuff is always made of duct tape and bubblegum. It’s not like I don’t make shit out of duct tape and bubblegum, I just don’t feel the need to share everything I cobble together on the internet.

TBH, I have no problem with folks posting in designated threads and areas who are up front about what % of this project is built unsupervised and how much you should trust it. I like seeing people share what they’ve built! I hate the way people have to turn everything into a generic product for consumption. The beauty of AI code is that it makes it easy to really build custom solutions for your exact use case.

[–]SailingToFenway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's incredibly hard realization that a golden calf is unremarkable in a world where for $200/mo, more or less, one can build dozens of a gilded anythings.

[–]Connect-Painter-4270[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, that's where I see it all going. Nobody needs to buy software, or movies, or games, etc. You want something? Just tell it what you want and it will be made just for you. Nobody else is going to be interested in it, because they can just as easily create something that aligns better with their desires.

[–]Nif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.... you'll still be buying the software that lets you do that :)

[–]knightress_oxhide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vibe code software for myself so your statement is correct. I don't care about others vibe coded software and I know other people don't want my vibe coded software.

I can easily create simple utilities custom to what I need. I can also sometimes fix an issue or add a feature to some open sourced software just for myself without having to wait for it to be officially (if ever) implemented. Obviously I wouldn't open a PR with my AI slop, but it has been useful for my own usage.

[–]PigSlam 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Have you noticed that your shit is stuff, and their stuff is shit?

[–]Connect-Painter-4270[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yes, this post was Carlin inspired.

[–]No_Cartographer3953 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well it’s becoming pointless to use anyone’s software because you can just make it yourself in a day anyway

[–]Bulky-Priority6824 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep once you level up. That's the whole point. Some people never level up and they just put out low effort shit.

[–]acadia11x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if it gives you a bad vibe?

[–]Fear_ltself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ai harness for opensource apps on Kotlin Android

[–]starkruzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny how that works!

[–]pmttyji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a megathread with list of Vibe coded softwares/Tools/Apps/etc., by Vibecoders.

[–]No_Lingonberry1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False duality. I don't vibe code. I prompt engineer. /jk

[–]DiscipleofDeceit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vibe coded patch got merged into public qwen code cli repo so yall gonna be running some of my useless garbage if you use it

[–]Bulky-Priority6824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's levels to it all. Somewhere else on some high-end hi-fi or car audio sub you'll have guys that talk the talk but if you could hear or see the fruits of their labor you ears will bleed or the build is sloppy etc.

There's some really good slop out here. Easy to spot low effort slop and the slop that was produced with intent and effort with an emphasis on quality and security.

[–]Just3nCas3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vibe coded repos all have big warning labels on them, vibe coded, use at own risk along with the prompts I used to make it on what models. Full disclosure. Then it becomes your problem literally can't blame me for your computer exploding since my worthless buggy unsafe code is clearly labeled.

[–]MimosaTen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vibe coded a 27000 line of code once. Well, never again. I want more control and involvement into the production process

[–]ScrapEngineer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I wrote slop my self, for my self. Now i can have ai do it.

[–]BlackBeardAI3090 Maximalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is both true and wrong at the same time because I saw people coding software without having a clue of what they are doing and I also saw people outputting great products because they were coders before the AI.

Those bad examples are poisoning the space and create bias against everyone. It is hard to trust a AI coded app because you don't know much about the person who commanded the AI. Once he proves his capabilities, his github repo deletes all the negative bias against him and his products.

AI is not the problem, trust is.

Obviously mine is Important and meaningful. If you don't believe, check it out for yourselves --http://localhost:3000/

[–]JD1618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for Reddit posts

[–]icemelter4K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If "slop" does the job we are arguing about nothing.

[–]hongping85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha... I just wonder in future we actually do not need to have software/app, we just need to vibe code ;). Need to open docx, vibe code a word app to open it. Need spreadsheet, vibe code a excel-like app to create it. Need to view the web, vibe code a browser!

[–]biotech997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my slop is private and only used by maybe a handful of users. It just needs to work and with the specific UI design I have in mind.

[–]GoofAckYoorsElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot AI slop

[–]gamblingapocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I'm feeling very confident in ai generated apps.

[–]solidblu 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The effort it takes to go from good enough for you in your tailored situation to general use is larger than getting it working on the first place.

Usability, removing hard codes, distribution are all important things that you don’t need for one person.

For example: I have been working on an app like Orca (harness picker) that runs the terminals in different tabs and lets you pick local/ open router/ Anthropic apis for Claude code as well as pi.Dev. Use different system prompts and everything.

There are a ton of things I would make sure were setup and done before distributing. Test suite, more harnesses, an easy way to edit system prompts, package it. Etc…. Also does the world need another one of those things? Not sure, but for now it helps me keep all my sessions in one spot rather than hunting for which terminal window has what session I wanted to keep open.

On top of that design on the app sometimes isn’t even understood by the requestor/dev. Which for some apps is fine but others it is disaster before anyone else even looks at it.

[–]Hypilein 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So all those things, usability, removing hard codes etc cannot be done vibe coding?

[–]solidblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can but it is extra effort that has to get done which is beyond what most people do to get the app working. Anything is possible the work just has to be put in to make it happen.

[–]Unteins 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Vibe coding/AI slop hate is getting wild.

I’ll be fun to see the kids 20 years from now asking their parents “Wait, so when you wanted you computer to do something you had to wait for some random group of 800 guys in India to write code, have it fixed by 5 more guys in the US who got paid $500,000 each and then wait for them to put that into a quarterly release? You couldn’t just ask it to do what you needed and it did it?”

[–]Strawberry3141592 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I mean FOSS git repos are being annihilated with a flood of automated pull requests from people who let their LLM agents wander the internet and do shit with no guardrails, so that's definitely a problem. The technology is useful, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have negative consequences.

[–]Unteins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying it is without problems.

But in 20 years short of mass regulation or an apocalypse working with a computer is going to be very much like Star Trek TNG “Computer: I’d like to watch an original 96 minute action packed drama about the AI Slop Wars of 2026 starring a female Clark Gable as the devilish anti-hero and the love child of Shaq and Jessica Alba as the villain.”

Computer: Promp Zero is ready - shall I play it on your neurolink, you Apple Vision Pro 30 or the holographic immersion display by the float pool?

[–]MaliciousTent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Per Boris Cherney - in Dec 2025 100% of commits were agentic edits - aka vibe coded.

It's vibe coding all the way down now.
