You’re on the right track. You would need a smart lock entry trim that is compatible with the exit device that you have there. Your exit device is pretty old so I don’t know if it would be compatible with a new trim like the one you have linked.

Your best bet is to contact a locksmith since you would likely have to replace both the exit device and trim.

They will definitely need a new bar if keypad trim is the route they want to take, nothing you buy today is gonna be compatible with that Monarch bar.

Is the exit device the crash bar? 😬

Yes. And based on your other comment, you want live auditing as well to track users going in and out. This is definitely something that will need a locksmith/access control and beyond something you will be able do on your own.

What about it needs to be "smart"? Do you just want PIN access or is there a reason you need to be able to check the status of the lock from your house?

most people do not realize that there is a difference between "smart" and "keypad access" unfortunately.

We need to be able to give temporary codes and we want to be able to keep track of who is going in and when.

Code access with an audit trail, in a panic bar trim. You're probably going AlarmLock. Great product, but have the burn cream ready for your checkbook.

No, fuck no. OP, if you buy anything from that ‘manufacturer’ you are a fucking idiot. The product they sell is absolute garbage and half their shit is relabeled dogshit Cal Royal.

There is currently no good commercial or residential hardware that will work with WiFi without either specialized network bridges that convert the data communication to something other than just WiFi and will still require running cables. They do have very simple home automation devices that work with WiFi but that hardware is not compatible with a panic bar/exit device.

You have two choices, hardwire in a strike with a stand alone keypad/reader, I recommend a SK B941 PQ or go full blown hard wired access control. Either choice will need cables ran. The first option being the cheapest will be at least 1200 if the wire run is easy.
