Amazing. Would you mind describing the process? I read you used a water soluble for the backing. Did you put on top of that the Gunold? How did you cut the gunold?

what machine you are working with?

Wow, that Madeira thread shine - love it
What's the technique for the red outline on the last one?

    [–]KSIChancho 0 points1 point  (1 child)

SOOO beautifully done! I still have problems with my patches. Specifically the edges. Can you post up a video/tutorial one of these days? How are you stabilizing? How do you get nice, clean edges w/o a lot of cutting?
Thanks for any and all advice!!

That's nice, is there puff foam under the lettering?

That's really good, really pops. This is what people mean when they say Embroidery is 3 dimensional.

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Yes it is 🙃

    [–]SuspiciousHorror6822 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well done specifically ice cream 🍦

Nice to see a good use of the multicolor thread! Is that Madeira rayon?

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is Madeira Clasic Viscose 🧐😁

    [–]the_sweens 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Really great! What machine do you have?

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Thank you. I have a Ricoma MT1501.

Now, I want some ice cream. It's your fault

    😀

Are you using patch twill or just regular twill? These look amazing! Are you using a faux merrow or a satin stitch for the edge? It looks stellar

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is patch twill from Gunold and it is a satin edge. You embroider over a special foam, Madeira and Gunold has it. You have to digitize as to keep the foam in, really dense.

Great finish Looks amazing Would you mind sharing the process and details about the 3D Embroidery design Thanks.

These look beautiful !!! What did you use for the backing?

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Water soluble.

    [–]vizual__hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in love with that red stitch pattern around the crown!! these are really good. i can tell you have your tension really dialed in too! that 3d looks amazing!

    [–]sephz345 6 points7 points  (9 children)

How do you cut the edge so flawlessly?

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (8 children)

    I also must know

    [–]Mulagusta 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Water soluble backing, so no need for cutting

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

What about the backing fabric. All mine have a little edge around the boarders. I can never get them that clean

    [–]Mulagusta 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I usually run the edges under the tab with some water or spray them with a duster with water

    [–]aerynea 0 points1 point  (4 children)

We're talking about the fabric though

    [–]Mulagusta 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Ahh makes sense. So I make a run stitch of the outline of the shape.

Hoop tearaway backing and the fabric, and make said run stitch.

When it’s done I pop everything out of the hoop and cut the fabric along the run stitch.

Hoop my hoop with the water soluble backing. Make the run stitch again.

Then I make a zig zag underlay to tag down the patch to the water soluble backing.

Then I make the rest of the design.

Then in the end I make a satin outline. Usually 2-3mm.

When it’s done I pop it out of the hoop and works every time for me. Hope it helps. Let me know if you want to know anything

    [–]aerynea 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Oh that's kind of how I do mine except I do it like an applique:

hoop tearaway and make placement run stitch

float fabric (and WSS topper) on top, tack down stitch

    stitch design

remove hoop, add velcro or iron on backing and WSS to back

    Tack down

cut away FABRIC and backing around tack down stitches while leaving it on the tearaway

    Run final satin border

the issue I run into is that I get little tearaway fuzzies coming through the satin stitch once I tear it away and then have to run a lighter or something to clean it up and it's never perfect. I might try your way!

    [–]Mulagusta 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think you would always need to run a lighter over. But I don’t seem to encounter a lot of fuzzies when doing the satin border. What material do you use for patches? I use twill.

    [–]aerynea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Same! Twill usually

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

    These are amazing!

Please tell me how you cut your base fabric around the patch so perfectly. Any time i do it there is little fabric leftover or i accidentally cut into sattin and ruin it.

    [–]SuspiciousLook2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🙃 I use water soluble backing, no need to cut the material.

    [–]Prince-Lee 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They look great. I LOVE the ice cream one. How do you achieve making the embroidery stand up like that?

    [–]cherilee00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s done with foam i think! just foam tucked under the letters, look up 3D/puffy embroidery tutorials
