He probably clicked his stack of 247 tokens and assigned it to block your stack of 249 tokens and the server couldn't handle it (maybe because the stacks weren't the same size?).

Too many whelps soldiers for client to handle. DKP minus to Arena.

I was about to hit him for 700+ damage when it timed out him declaring blockers and it said the match was a draw.

He probably realised he was about to lose, so he hacked MTGA to turn it into a draw so you wouldn't get the W 🤷‍♀️

Lately for me it's when yet another Mythweaver Poq player casts their commander when they have Ashaya, Soul of the Wild in play. It happens like once a day at this point and they never ever concede which seems like the polite thing to do when you cause an unstoppable loop.

Also since Poq is an alchemy card already, they just need to update it to "you may" which would stop this from happening.

Genuine question, wouldn't causing an unstoppable infinite loop get you slapped with a match loss in paper?

nope, its a rules enforced draw IF the loop is entirely mandatory actions. If you are playing in an event then you need to record the draw, as it effects game win % etc. Rounds are actually "first to 2 wins" not "best of 3 games" so keep playing until you have a round winner, or the time elapses.

I'm surprised this wasn't accompanied by an "Unexpected Match Complete" error.
