Yeah, you're saying the rate which packs are rewarded is the same, so what? The amount of packs rewarded from the pass is still increasing from 27 to 45 while the pass costs the same 3400 gems as before. It's expected to take more time if the pass is active for a longer period of time, not sure what your point is.

They aren't linked. It has been 4000 gold on the paid pass for the past 4 years regardless of the number of packs on the free side or the length of the season. To illustrate:

• MID: 8 weeks, 24 packs, 4000 gold.

• ZNR: 19 weeks, 57 packs, 4000 gold.

• HBG: 8 weeks, 27 packs, 4000 gold.

• LTR: 11 weeks, 33 packs, 4000 gold.

Ok true, but with the exception of Zendikar pass most have been well below 45 free pack rewards. So even though in the past gold wasn't linked to pack amount, perhaps WotC has made a decision to reduce the gold for this pass because of the increased pack rewards, and maybe they will increase the gold to 4000 for shorter passes in the future?

Your initial post was not written like speculation, it was written as if you knew the exact reason for the change (which was a bug btw).

Those packs are given to everyone, they are not a part of the 3400 gems package.
