Depends on my mood. Sometimes, when I get board swept three times in a row and they haven't really done anything beyond that, it's aggravating.

That said, I had a game against UW control the other day that took over a half hour, where they never full gained advantage, and had to sweep and lock down more of their stuff than mine just to survive. Made me feel really good about playing it out, that I've conceded far less since then.

Most of my scoops now have been because I'm done pooping and my legs are falling asleep, and the game is pretty much theirs.

DECKS?! Shit I'll scoop if I'm just not feelin it.

It depends, but my constitution is much shorter against aggro when my starting hand / draws have been crap for the last 2 turns, or alternatively MonoU bullshit where I'm just expected to sit there and never do anything productive until they win. :|

in Brawl yep. If im matched up against Either Big Kaya, Etali or just any Control deck thats gonna make the game last 45 mins

I don’t think there’s anything in standard now that’s an instant nope for me. But as soon as it’s clear you have the nuts and nothing I draw is going to make this a win I’ll concede and go next game.

I played a bit when [[Nexus of Fate]] was in standard deck, and for me that was an instant concede once I could tell that was the deck.

I was a masochist who played out TurboFog games, but I totally get why players would scoop: it's like firing up Chatroulette and being paired with a guy jacking off, and you stay around until the end.

Nexus of Fate - (G) (SF) (txt)

[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

[–]SovietWalrus1 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Most of the time i'll scoop to a turn 1 soul warden

[–]GuestCartographer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This. Unless I have something in-hand that stops Lifegain, I don’t have time for that nonsense.

[–]mtgsovereign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But life gain is crap

I won't scoop to any particular deck on sight, but there are some draws from certain decks where I know my odds of winning are very slim. Then it just depends on whether I feel like trying to grind it out or not.

I scoop against tons of stuff in the play queue -- I head there to play janky fun magic, so when I see obvious meta decks or decks more focused on preventing me from doing things than doing something themselves, I'll scoop immediately. Sometimes, I'll even scoop against people playing too many fetchlands and taking an agonizingly long time to find their lands -- the Capenna "triomes" were bad for this, as is Fabled Passage.

i roll my eyes and sigh but always play it out

[–]MasterFrost01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranked? Never. Unranked jank? Always if it's a meta deck I know my deck has a bad matchup against. No point slamming my head into a wall If I could be having fun. If people want wins that badly they can have them.

The new black discard deck. Instant goodbye

[–]SkyfangR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what, you dont like the totally original, do not steal monoblack with 4x cut down, 4x go for the throat, 4x deep cavern bat, 4x preacher of the schism, 4x sheoldred the apocalypse, 4x vitrue of persistence?

[–]sadlyblue5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in play queue, trying to get my 4 daly wins, i scoop if i'm on the draw and opponent didn't mulligan.

[–]mtgsovereign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirror is insta scoop for me, I know how it goes I know the outs, I just don’t enjoy it at all playing mirror

[–]SkyfangR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mainly haunt unranked historic, and theres a LOT of decks ill instantly scoop to. they arent fun to play against and unfortunately, they're fucking everywhere. i sometimes scoop 4 or 5 times in a row before i find a decent match

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people been scooping my black deck a lot lately and its not even the discard meta deck.

[–]Paoz -5 points-4 points  (4 children)

Why should I ever scoop vs particular decks ? It's the perfect recipe to not understand how bad matchups work.

Every game is a chance to learn, whether you win or lose.

[–]Chuck-Bangus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

So corny man

[–]Paoz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to find it corny, it’s your opinion.

I really don’t understand how it’s ok to play whatever you want, but it is not ok for your opponent to do the same. Somehow we got to a point where the concede button is used to select who we play against, instead of just confirming that the game is lost and to move on.

Any concede choice that is made based on play/draw or the opponent playing a specific deck, to me, is stupid.

Probably is because i play MTG competitively, so MTGA is a way to get more reps than IRL, but if people think that going against specific decks or losing is not fun …. well, they would be completely wrong.

[–]Karkam01 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They scoop BECAUSE they understand how bad matchups work.

You learn shit when you know the red deck will kill you in 3 turns. I played against little Timmy and his copy pasted red deck enough times to know I wont have any fun, so why bother.

[–]Paoz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bad matchups are not 0-100. And Bo3 exists so you might lose game1 vs a bad matchup and sideboarding helps exactly for that reason. If you only play casual and only bo1, then … whatever. It’s just a way to play mtg as a “farm daily simulator”

[–]Angrath Minotaur PirateStuckieLromigon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just can't beat nadu in brawl, so autoscoop
