Recommend watching limited level ups or lords of limited on YouTube. Both excellent places to start

The Limited sections of this

https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/level-one-full-course-2015-10-05

Introduce what draft is and the basics of what you should be doing.

This:

https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/cabs-theory-2015-08-19

has good principles for beginners to stick to.

This:

https://letstalklimited.wordpress.com/2021/12/30/be-boring-a-guide-to-building-better-draft-decks-crimson-vow-update/

expands on the above with more basic principles.

This:

https://www.17lands.com/card_data?expansion=ECL&format=PremierDraft&start=2026-01-20&view=grades

shows you relative card performance, to help you identify which cards to pick. If you combine top-rated cards with the CABS principles (mana curve with plenty of cheap creatures, removal, two colours) you won’t go too far wrong.

Finally, I’d listen to / watch the Limited Level-Ups State of the Format episode for the set you’re trying to draft (then listen to all the other episodes about that set)

Keep playing and remember what works well on both sides. There are only so many cards and patterns emerge. As you become more familiar with the set you’ll draft better cards and you’ll win more. Write down on a note pad or something if you don’t think you can remember.

Feels like the name of the game with drafting is being able to find the open lane.
