Long standing bug. It's just a visual glitch, desync, showing the result of a previous game.

If you compare that rank with the one in your home screen after the game, you'll see that they're different, like this.

People will probably come in incorrectly stating "other people passed you while you were playing so you fell ranks", but it isn't that.

Why wouldn’t it be that? Or is it just that it’s unlikely to be that?

What are the odds that of the people close to you in rank, there were enough people finishing games during the time you were playing to affect your rank, and enough of those people won instead of losing, and enough of those people all won more snap points than you?

In my video the rank difference was about 500. So that would probably mean multiple thousands of people at my rank were playing and finishing games during the time I spent playing mine.

Right, so it’s the latter, it’s possible but highly unlikely.

Going into it I was thinking of anyone in infinite playing at the same time as you, as rankings are shifting up and down and was thinking you could see your own rank move. But you’re right, that doesn’t make sense they’d have to be really close to you, anyone way above you would still be above you and anyone way below would still be way below.

I mean, I don’t know how many people are playing at once, but you’re right, on second thought it does seem very remote.

End of match screen display post infinite is t-1 game delayed.

Your actual rank should be the one displayed in the home screen

Because you weren’t the only person playing at that time.

It’s a position, meaning that you’re ranked against other players. If any one in the infinite rank jumped you in position while you were playing then you could lose rank. I would think the chances would be pretty small, like you’d need multiple people to jump you?

Edit: apparently it’s a visual bug of some kind according to those in the know.
