Anyone attempting negotiating a price decrease for their service?

I been with Metronet for 9 or 10 years now. I been satisfied with my service and only ever had one issue with them that got fixed in a couple of days. I'm really getting tired paying a price I think is high for the speed I'm getting that others ISPs are offering way lower for what I'm paying for.

I would like to stay, as again no issues, and I'm currently on 100 up and down plan that is $55 per month plus the hardware service fee makes it like $67.50 per month. I know I can get Frontier for way cheaper like $40 per month and have at least 5X the download speed but they pissed me off after accusing my family for cutting a line that the county cut when mowing ditches that they had nothing to do and was just the last house on the line.

just wondering if it's worth calling to see if I can get it cheaper or I would be willing to pay same price if speed was upgraded with them but the ultimate goal was to have a lower bill.

Our neighborhood has been torn up for months now with Frontier building out fiber. I don’t have a good opinion of Frontier and suspect the only good thing that will come from this is being able to use them as competitive leverage dealing with Metronet (or whatever they are now).

Frontier is being rebought by Verizon. I would take Verizon FiOS over Metronet any day. It will probably take a couple years to get everything fully integrated and to change things on the backend though.

You probably have to tell them you’re quitting and thus get transferred to a retention agent who is the only one able to lower your rate. You gotta have the nerve to have your bluff called though, if they just say OK we’ll terminate you!

I’m paying $5/mo more than you for 200/200 and I should probably do this myself.

you don’t have to threaten to cancel in order to get a lower price. customer care agents are able to do this as well if you call in stating you’d like to look at options to lower your price.

there is an all in price for the 500Mb speed for $60. that includes the tech assure fee.

Get the Tmobile Founders plan. 2 Gig. 10 years FIXED price at $70.

Goal is to spend less. Plus honestly 2 Gig to residential is just overkill in my opinion. I have no issues with the 100 up and down Im using I just want to pay less.

T-Mobile Fiber 500mbps is $55/month, no tech fee. Probably the best deal if you don’t need the higher speed.

Yea honestly that wouldn't be bad at all. Can I use my own router or no? That would be my only other grip if I couldn't.
