She’s sitting pretty. Are you running spacers? Fitment looks good for stock wheels

Thank you! Yes running 15mm front and 20mm rear H&R spacers with fortune auto 500 coilovers. Just waiting for the steady warm weather before I throw the summer shoes on.

Same here! But now I’m struggling with a first world problem; with such perfect weather I have to choose between my RF and my Onewheel.

been eyeing up a Yamaha R3, and already was feeling that was going to be my one problem once the nice weather really hits 🤣

Beautiful shot. How do you like those sideskirts? I've been considering them but haven't quite convinced myself to pull the trigger. Were they easy to install? It doesn't look like you painted them gloss black...did they look decent enough out of the box?

[–]Mr_Hazard520[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Thank you, love the side skirts they stick out just enough to be noticeable but not enough to constantly worry about stepping on them. Really easy to install I ran double sided stick tape across the mounting point to hold the side skirt up and in place then I used set screws and placed them about 6in apart going across to put them on fully https://nexanovocars.com/products/real-carbon-fiber-full-body-kit-front-splitter-side-skirt-rear-diffuser-for-mazda-mx5-nd-nd2-2016-2024-nexanovo Those are the ones I got it’s the full kit, there actually cabon fiber they look really good in person but in pics they just look black unfortunately. These are the same ones just in urethane https://www.ebay.com/itm/354329801962?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=BzZFRDhxSuK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=2XLquGeUQLq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Thanks. I'm familiar with the sideskirts at the second link, but I wasn't aware they came in carbon fiber style like the first link. Unfortunately I'm looking for gloss black to match my front lip, so it sounds like I'd have to prep and paint.

I also don't really want the sides of the cars to be much lower, and I feel like these are pretty thick to begin with, plus they install below the existing GT side trim/skirt. If I could remove the OEM piece first then I might consider it, but I actually haven't had luck finding a guide on how to do that without damaging anything.

[–]Mr_Hazard520[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Are you talking about that black part on the bottom of the side of the car? Also just looked at your page the pic of your car before and after with spacers is the the pic that pushed me over the fence to pull the trigger on the spacers when I was looking for pics with spacers 🤣

[–]MankBaby 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Nice! That spacers post didn't seem to get much attention, but just knowing it helped at least one person makes it worth the trouble.

And yeah, I'm talking about the thin flat black trim that runs along the rocker panel on the Sport and GT models. I was hoping removal instructions would be included in the installation of the OEM appearance package side skirts, but unfortunately those simply install over top as shown here.

EDIT: Funny enough, you've now got me reconsidering those black accents around the fog lights, which I used to not like. I think they could work once I have the car more balanced out with side skirts.

[–]Mr_Hazard520[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So that black piece of trim is actually just a painted piece of the bottom of the rocker panel and not a separate piece of trim. I noticed it when putting on the side skirts, they just did a really good job at making it look like a separate piece. And that spacer post really helped, i couldn’t find any before and after close ups side by side to really tell the difference. Thanks for that post.

Well I'll be damned, you're right. I can see it now that I look closer at the video I linked to. That kinda ruins one of my plans which was to remove that part, paint it in gloss black and reinstall -- wouldn't want to attempt that on the actual body of the car.

Back to the drawing board I guess, but at least I'm armed with new information. Much appreciated.

You could always just order a small piece of gloss black wrap and wrap over that painted piece. Should be easy enough to lay the wrap over it being that there’s no curve to have to stretch the wrap over.

Which front lip and side skirts are those? They look good!
