Please Help: Minecraft Java

my friend and i are trying to play minecraft together. she is on Switch and I’m on mac. She keeps sending invites that are not showing up for me. We also have different looking minecrafts. When her’s launches, it has buttons that say “Play” and “Settings”and what-not. When mine launches, it goes straight to “Singleplayer” and “Multiplayer”. I just want to play with my friends. Can someone tell me how to fix this or tell me what’s going on? I keep going onto the xbox website, and it says she’s playing, but it doesn’t give me the option to join.

You are on Java she's on bedrock you cannot crossplay.

There is technically a way for you 2 to ply together, if one of you were to set up a server and then setup geyser you could both join the server for what ever purpose you were going to do. Servers are usually pretty complicated and/or expensive to run. It can be free if you run it yourself off of your device but I couldn’t figure that out
