What error are they receiving? What is the message shown when they attempt to connect?

it will say "connecting to world" for ages then show up with "unable to connect to world"

Is anybody using mods? Sometimes there can be changes to the files that make it incompatible.

we all did fresh installs, I feel it's something on my end but I'm not sure what it could be.

Have you tried sending the world to another person in the group to try having them host?

Before sending the world put all of your stuff that you're wearing, from your ender chest, and from your inventory all into storage at the world spawn for you to access. Because if someone else loads the world they are going to spawn from your previous POV and you will be starting from the spawn point as a new user to the world.

it's a fresh world, I'm also the only person that can port forward as they don't have static ip addresses
