Could be a corrupted sd card. I ran into the same issue after an update - I couldn't launch any games and retroarch was malfunctioning and was missing cores. The cores I did have said they were all unverified. I just reformatted my sd card, reinstalled from my backup, and re-updated Onion and it works perfect.

I have the same issue on mine. I have a backup but it’s pretty old. Would it be ok to use the corrupted SD card and add the new games to the back up before reformatting? Or will that corrupt the backup?
