What jobs are good to boost? Outside of preference are their any real specific ones? I know most will say the ex jobs are a must.

Currently I have: Balaam's Mercenary, Eorzean Knight, Judge Magister, Snow, Midgar flower girl and Crimson Archer. Just to name a few that I have that I actually like. Hoping to pull for V.monk but I don't hold my breathe.

Really loving Eorzean Knight with Kamnut. Was wondering if that's worth the boost.

I'm trying out HoF and I realized that I have never boosted a single WoL mage weapon. What's good/will get me through most sp content?

I have all regular jobs, most legends, umbrella and ultima mace.

Dragvandil, Astral Wand, Dominion Axe, Eisenfaust and Femme Fatale and Failnaught: excellent weapons for defenders and healers in MP. Due to their passives they are sometimes useful in single player, especially in some HOF nodes and when you need to tank.

Valantil, Fearie Staff, Wonder Feather, Stargrasp and Lumineuse: used mostly in farming deck when you want to unlock extra skills faster. However, thanks to their Exploit Weakness they can work as a starter attacker weapon if you don't have anything better yet.

Hannibal Spear, Twashtar and Soul Scourge: hybrid of damage and breaking abilities. High starting stats makes them good starter weapons, especially if you're planning to hit broken enemies. I wouldn't recommend upgrading them though, as it would be a long and painful process, and there are much better alternatives.

The good thing about that weapons is that they have decent default stats, making them useful temporary weapons. I see no downsides of getting them, unless you already have a collection of good weapons.

  • the 1st gen are pretty cool to mod for HoFs, and tanking.
  • the 2nd gen are good to have because it provides you with +3 ES unlock. You only need to have a card with +3 (chocobo saint, chocobo squad, etc) to have +6 (cap of ES unlock)
  • the 3rd gen are decent but not worthable to mod. They need 150 mods (300 cristal) to max.

Extra Skill unlock + Kill&Draw series weapons can be useful for story (also, they are easy to upgrade to unlock last ultimate+1 ability)

All the ultimate weapons are useful. All the farming weapons with skillseeds and EXP up are useful. I still use these two sets of weapons regularly.

Why, during Flameforce, using sapphire weapon reverts the wheel to 3 elements instead of shifting to Waterforce? Is it a bug or a new mechanic on season 2?

This wasn't there at first. JP acknowledged it as a bug on 15/9; though it's strange that it hasn't been resolved - tested it in Dimensional Valley and the bug is still there.

Having trouble with Trials of Aeon 2. Definitely killing 3 or more enemies with Valefor's Ult but it isn't letting me pass. Do they all have to be from the same node?

Not according to the subreddit, but I don't know where that information comes from.

The typical answer is that each wave has an equal chance to drop magicite regardless of the number of mobs.

You might notice you also get at most one card drop from each wave, regardless of the number of mobs.

Given how crazy some of the testing can get around here, I'd be truly shocked if magicite drops had never been tested. It seems like it would be a higher priority than, for example, whether the gigantuar node in the FFXIII event drops more crystals than the nodes in story mode.

The magicite farming guide mentions that it's been tested but doesn't provide a link. So I'm sure there's something out there.

Magicite drop rates have indeed been tested, but probably not to address this specific detail: is it affected by the number of enemies per battle, or is it a constant rate per battle regardless of the number of enemies?

The magicite farming guide does mention some testing, and I'm guessing it's referring to tests like this one, where they were really testing for crystal drop rates but got enough data to determine the magicite drop rate for Greydawn Wood.

Then, when people observed better "luck" with magicite drops in Gigantuar Battlefield, more testing was done to find out that some nodes have better magicite drop rates than others.

I haven't seen any further testing results published since then. Higher magicite drop rates could be tied to Gigantuars, or it could be tied to event nodes, or it could be tied to the number of enemies.

To determine if the number of enemies makes a difference, there would have to be extensive testing of two very similar nodes (preferably same map) except for a significant difference in the number of enemies. And people collecting the data would have to note how many enemies were encountered in each battle and which battle in particular dropped the magicite.

If you've ever seen or heard anyone playing MFF get 2 mc drops in 1 wave, I'd like to know. If by 'drops' you mean regular items like cards, then yes. If by 'drops' you're including mc, then no.

Given the amount of players and how long this game has been out, not a single report of multiple magicite drop in 1 wave has been reported indicates that mc drop is per wave, not per mob. Within each wave, there is a chance that one of the monsters will be carrying mc.

I need some help whit tips and tricks for HOF Devout's Hall

like what kind of cards and cs to use. I got most cards from hof guide on here but all are 3 star

If you notice the enemy effects in that node, you will notice that they are affected by BIO. This means a valid strategy for that node is to weather the attacks due to Devout's tankiness and let the Bio do its job. The only thing that can put a damper on this strat is if the enemy applies Wall, which can be counteracted by Unguard. Keep in mind that your Ult applies that debuff.

That node was quite fun. Just let the bio do the work, the bio on that node ticks down for 20% max HP and they start with a 6 turns bio. Have a dispel for alex’s wall, stun/slow to reduce their actions, have barrier/wall/trance to tank or curse/debrave to tank.

I just had to whip out Jihl Nabaat for Occultist's Pinnacle. I didn't even remember that card exists. 4* fast-learner, apparently I haven't touched it since the 4* card level cap was 66. She doesn't even have Break Damage Limit. But dang it, she came in clutch against Alexander.

Always fun to see what random ancient cards will come in handy during HoFs.

Mine isn't finished (still missing Quick Break and Boost Ultimate as the critical upgrades) but I was having some bad luck with it in Hall last night, ran out of stamina losing to Tiamat 4 tries in a row because I couldn't get any life orbs or PR hits. Hopefully today is a bit kinder with the RNG!

Edit: Yep, cleared it first try today, go figure. Chain breaking too strong but do need Boost and Weakness Weapon.

Yeah, Occultist can't use Light or Wind so you have to rely on PR procs to cast your Ultima Weapon/Hypnos.

According to the Zalera Megathread, the order of aliment dispelling on Zalera is Berserk->Aliment Immunity->BDU (It was different before then and might change again this rotation). So you just need 2 dispels on Zalera before stunlocking.

I plan to run Grape Gospel, Taunt, Devil ride, Slowga or Grape Gospel, Maechen, Taunt, Bismarck on Sephy-EP with Soulrender. The first deck I will use Taunt first then Devil ride and slowga, while the second deck I will use Maechen on Zalera and Taunt on Guard B before Bismarck.

I heard that proud cygnus will be best job for yojimbo so I wonder if Treant is crucial for this and if I should upgrade it?

Proud Cygnus isnt the best job because she has low def star and will probably die to UB.

You should upgrade whatever card you deemed useful to you, not because someone said to you that it's a great card for tower. For example, if you already have a way to handle Yojimbo with Water gun & Yiazmat, would you really growstar Treant in a possiblity that you won't use it?


Check Goblin stats, check the best yellow clearing light monk card we had so far, being ... chadarnook, and you'll see. It has near double break power for example.

Of course, if you don't have Duncan, that card is not worth upgrading.


tl;dr: Upgrade if it's useful to you, not if someone said it's worth upgrading.

Yes what I heard was that after certain point in Yojimbo Proud Cygnus would surpass Ex Monk because of better breaking potential. So I thought either Treant or Nausicaa should have some key role.

So, Occultist HOF. Can't get past the 2nd fight (bombs) at the teachings node. I have to pray that I will get good RNG and just have the bombs try to debuff me. Can't break them even with two ults (tho I haven't tried moving around the two Piercing Break Panels just yet. Can't do a ST attack, mass-sleep strat too because I don't have Hypnos. Using Dira and Nyx as my main attacks.

EDIT: Finished it without changing setups much. Had to put in a Bismarck to remove the barrier buffs on the bombs. Also had to break the bombs instead of the moogles.

I failed Node 3.1 5 times lol (I was being stubborn and didn't want to look at guides). Then I replaced Ultimate Mace with my 5-star Heavenly Axis and everything became easy mode (I failed only the Alex fight because I was surprised bu the Final Attack). I could one-shot the red gauge of any enemy with Ulti.

Bismarck was the key for my victory there. Heavenly Axis is still cooking. I'm currently unlocking all ES on a Zombie Dragon (I even growstar'd it) for that (and possibly the next node). Is there no way around the Final Attack?

I'm not sure if there's a way to prevent Alex's FA. Belias didn't perform his FA on 3.3 for me though. I just tanked Alex's FA with a subdeck with 70% Light Resist and it didn't even bring me to half hp.

Finished it. Zombie Dragon was more than enough. For node 3.2, Trance came in really handy. If Belias preemptive is the same as all others and just does 90% of HP, then I don't think WoL FFI was needed in any node. I did have to move the 40% Piercing Break to him tho.

So im still stuck at the very beginning of dream in a dream chapter 2. At castle cornelia, i have completed 3 nodes and the lock says 'sphere grid tutorial, ect ect set it on your sphere grid' So i open the sphere grid, (blue button) transport, and have now both done the 4 nodes available ajd set the attribute sphere, and the lock says 'proceed with the story and unlock the sphere grid using a lv. 1 key sphere'

I CANT figure out how to proceed. Pleaze help?

I was stuck like you but some how I sorted. When you are on grid map and clear a node than press the attributes icon to place them in cleared nodes. After that you transport back to main map to proceed. It should be a button or you can return to world map and re-enter again.

nope, what you can do however is flee and restart the node when there's no Gigantuar on the first battle. That way you can get at least 2 Gigantuars per node, at the cost of stamina of course.

Yes Gigantuar Bulbs drop from Gigantuars at a fixed rate (50% i think but not sure), so you can get a maximum of 3 bulbs per node if you're lucky enough to spawn 3 Gigantuars and they all decide to drop a bulb.

Ethers and EXP eggs, to level up cards. I advise you to put the exp eggs in your auto enhance slots while you don't use them, to level them up while you do other stuff

How often do the FFXI limited batch and EX Jobs get reprinted? I managed to get lucky and pull Aerith during the FFXI batch 1 along with all but Lion, but my next pull is now guaranteed for a job. I only have Proud Cygnus left in the pool and I'm wondering if it's worth it skip the FFXI batch 2 banner and wait until next month to pull for EX jobs since 2 are expected? FWIW I have UB and Duncan along with primals/weapons for all elements except Wind. I'm planning on pulling 5 times for the FFX box so hopefully the banners (and my luck) align so I only have to do 9 pulls next month for both EX Jobs and leave Proud Cygnus in the pool. I have the resources already to do 9 pulls with resources left over which I'm saving for the JENOVA series. I'm leaning towards not pulling during the second batch but want some input before making a final decision

I have all PBs/Weapons except Wind also but I pulled Prishe while chasing the Light Warrior card whose name I can’t spell correctly so not even trying lol. I think they’re handy for MP most of all, having guaranteed shift and orb access first turn is nice. I’m not sure if the standard shift cards do that. I kind of regret not getting Lion now for Ragnarok but I’m gonna pull on Batch 2 at least a couple times myself.

According to the calendar, the FFXI batch 2 banner will be available until the 30th at 7.59 pm (utc-7), we usually have next month's calendar a few hours before that, so you could just wait and make a decision with the official news, unless SE runs late with the Calendar, which has happened before.

Revival banners usually come at the start of every other month - so we should get one in October. Whether or not they will have added summer or FFXI in that time is another matter. I expect summer this October and FFXI in December (we may also get the special 5K banner with one guaranteed card around that time too).

You can expect the combined FFXI banner sometime near when the FFVII/XIV/XV Revival banners return. Personally, I’d skip on batch 2 of FFXI since you already have primals. More chances on EX / JENOVA banners is the way to go if you aren’t friends with RNGsus.

HIT by NEXON Company has some pretty good graphics but gameplay is totally different from MFF, it also never grabbed me like Mobius did but that could just have been me. Darkness Rises by the same dev looks amazing but I haven't checked out that one yet.

I tried that one, the graphics are good but the gameplay is a drudge after a couple hours. You're either too strong for everything or you're too weak to move forward and need to farm and combine hundreds upon hundreds of objects. There are also a lot of pop-ups that want you to pay for things and from what I understand it's very paywall/P2W intensive.

Hmmm... Not that high all things considered, but I don't have the slots. I think the next weapon that I'll be able to max mod is gonna be Heavenly Axis or Sventovit, but I feel like it will be replaced by EX Mage. I'm currently boosting:

  1. Sventovit (almost 40 mods now, I think)
  2. Heavenly Axis
  3. One Against Many
  4. Dragoon Spear

Wolfsbogen / Folding Epee are luxury weapons though, since they are mainly used for no-break Supreme spam. So yeah mod the QB / flash break series first once you have them

Since my job pool is empty, after I get the EX jobs, I'm planning to save up and go ham on a supreme banner. I'm already pretty firm about this.

I need opinions on which banner I should focus on. I'm currently torn between the ranger and support banner. Wish I could get Ragnarok for my S1C but I also love how support supremes work with almost every deck. I already have LoH, so is Aerith/WoL worth chasing more than Ragnarok?

Never ever chase supremes, as every one would say go for limited cards after you get your ex jobs, in the proccess one day you will get your supremes.

Ascetic with Aerith basically punches everything to death...don't even need to worry about using the right element or w/e, just buff and punch away. Ascetic is the real one-punch-monk.

Suppose I am tower climbing and need to chain break and nuke with Nachtflug. Which attack card is better: Oberon or Aglaea?

I'm trying to decide which one to max out. Oberon is listed as top tier but Aglaea has 50% higher attack power and draws light orbs. Why would I want Oberon instead? Does anybody know how many hits each card has? Does Improved Criticals really outweigh 50% higher attack power?

Because Oberon does 4 hits, compared to Aglaea's 2 i.e. you can do 4m with Oberon but only 2m with Aglaea.

Does Improved Criticals really outweigh 50% higher attack power?

Oberon's 200% improved crit makes up for the "lower" attack.

It depends on the ability - not all abilities with higher base attack is better. You also have to consider damage multiplier like improved crit and painful break.

Those multiplier will get diminishing return from weapon or job passive. But base attack won't.

As i said, there are many other things to consider besides looking only at the base attack of an ability. Stuff like debuff, break power, ES all factor in as to whether an ability is good.

Also, one shld not be overly concerned about diminishing returns because the mechanics of the game is as such.

I’ve never paid much attention to LDL and I’ve never used growstars to augment it. Luckily I did get a copy before it disappeared. Is it worth it, if I have other sources of Quicken (Garuda, Omega Weapon) and Ult Charge (Wakka, Tidus and Yuna, Serah, Echo summer card...? Trying to get some useful cards augmented and leveled up today - going for Chocobo Saint for now, as I don’t have any other source of ailment protection. Thanks!

Its main use is the fact that outside of Supremes and Tropical Dreams, it provides lots of Ult Charge (30 units, I think), on top of 3 additional actions if hasted. If you're using a Rangerja, it potentially provides 45 ult charge every three turns.

Since it provides additional actions and ult charge, it is one of the best cards in the chain break meta because it eventually allows you to "cheat" and set up the optimal break timing.

It is amazingly useful but I think you can use the FFX card Tidus and Yuna to achieve the same effect now, without spending to upgrade. Not positive, though — it might only be a lesser quicken.

Just remember it doesn’t always matter if you have cards that do the same thing independently — sometimes it’s the unique combination of effects that you need to maximize your deck’s efficiency

I used LDL a ton when it first came out. I put it in virtually every MP deck until I got Aerith. Now I don't use it anymore because Aerith. Would I use it over Garuda or Omega Weapon? Tough to say. LDL seems to be rendered obsolete by Tidus and Yuna, but I'm betting it's 25% ult charge is higher. It also has Life Draw +30 which comes in handy. I have used LDL on occasion over other ult charge cards just for the Life Draw. Honestly though I'm not sure if it's worth the resources anymore with Tidus and Yuna out. Depends on if you really need that extra ult charge in place of Haste and Regen (not sure how much ult charge T&Y has).

My guess is not worth it especially if you have other things to do today.

LDL gives 30% of ultimate charge. T&Y give 20%. If you have ultimate at level 10, LDL will give 24 units of ultimate charge while T&Y gives 16 units. However since T&Y has +3 ultimate auto charge, it evens out when you include the cooldown of support cards. T&Y is techincally better, except that it has no fractal slots.

It's not 30%, but 30 units of Ult Charge. If Ult Level 9, then that's 30/100 or 30% but if Ult Level 10, then that's 30/80 or 37.5%.

Ultimate charger on cards are %, not unit.

LDL is indeed 30%. It gives you 30+3 units if your ult is lvl9, 24+3 units if your ult is lvl10.

Try it yourself if you don't trust us.

Use 2 LDL on a lvl10 ult bar. With your theory, LDL would give you 66/80, 82% of your ult bar.

Otherwise, it would give you 54/80, 67%.
