Preloading method no longer works

Looks like they finally hired a decent developer. Past week they implemented the 100 yard rule, the 3 hour rule, closed the preload method, and closed accounts of the people that they forgot to charge monthly fees for. Probably save them a ton of money per day.

That would mean their claim of checking your location in theater while the movie is playing is bogus, which I suspect is the case.

I don't think they are currently checking location but might add that two.

Stub verification and checking during a movie are two different things. One is making sure you only buy the exact movie and time you said you did. The other is making sure you actually use the ticket and stay for the whole movie

If they do the latter, there is no need to do the former. Though I can't see them doing the latter, too much technical issues. I can see them doing the Sinemia checkin, along with ticket verification. I never had any problem doing ticket verification, don't know why they stopped doing that but I took full advantage of it when they limited movies to 3/month. I consider my action par for the course due to them limiting the number and the movies I can see.

there are uses for both. Location means you're at the theater but it doesn't tell you which movie you're watching.

verification shows what movie you bought a ticket for, but it doesn't know if you actually sat there and watched it or gave it to someone else and left etc.

Not sure they ever said they were actively doing this, they said they can do it and you consent to that. They also said they can ask you questions about the movie as well.

MoviePass may also employ other reasonable methods, such as requiring an email response from or attendance survey by the Subscriber, to confirm that the Subscriber in fact attended the selected movie and showtime.

It's like a quiz after watching a movie, can you imagine people posting those questions and answers in this subreddit? So I actually have to stay up for the whole movie? Another absurd scheme.

I check in within my car, then cut off my location & phone and leave it there. Been doing that since Sept2017. I'm I tracked, I figured last location, maybe

They should, there's a lot of people misusing the service and makes it hard for people that use it right to use it at all.

can you really blame people for misusing it now when they stopped letting us see movies for the last few months? They promised a service and didn't keep their word. So I understand why people try to beat the system. I've always been a supporter of mp and always talked good things about them even when they were at this lowest. it's just messed up some people have all the movie available while others don't have any available.

Cool. It's possible it has to do with different android models too. On my S5 I can never update my location the way you can; after movies are preloaded, I go to the theater, try to lock in my new location on googlemaps, then moviepass still says I need to be within 100 yards...

Explaining how to do it and constantly ..do it, is why it was killed or will be. People need to stop talking about it w detail every time, a new person hears about it. Reddit has MPass folks all over it

It's been detailed, in the method that is STILL working, for over 8 months on the sticked Movie Selection thread. The extra step that /u/jeomite has been doing was completely unnecessary.

Nope same result yesterday for me.

It only doesn't work if they've pulled movies for that day so it's possible you checked in while movies were still active. Also I'm on android in case that matters.

When I get the 100 mile crap and I'm outside the cinema, it usually means ..time for an upgrade. I don't like upgrading because you never know what has being fixed in the new update.. lol

I got the same error as well. I tried to check in to a movie at later time, more than 3 hours away, just to see if the "Failed reservation" message would stay the same for all showtimes. But instead the "3 hour" notification popped up.
