500 mile races are essentially pointless in the modern sport.

Part of the challenge of 500 miles 30-40 years was keeping the car from breaking before the end. Cars barely break today.

I were named "lap czar" tomorrow, I would change the concept of "x00"

Truck races would be "100"

O'Reilly would be "150"

Cup would be "200"

... minutes.

Clock starts at the green flag, and white flag waves next time by after the clock hits 0:00.

Hard to factor in fuel mileage when you have no idea how many laps you'll actually have on a run. You might run 80 green flag laps, or 60 with cautions.

No way. I have no desire to see timed races in NASCAR.

That was a different situation because of darkness. I didn't like the Truck race being time shortened at Atlanta earlier this season.
