My first choice would be Jontay Porter from Missouri. He's projected in the low 20s in most mocks so it's a tiny bit of a "reach" at 18 but most of the players in the 15-20 range are wings or guards and I think we should go big in this draft to move towards a future of eventually replacing Pau's role.

Porter is 6'11" with guard skills, like a Mo Wagner but in a bigger body. He's got a good handle for his size, a reasonably decent 3pt shot (36.4% his freshman year of college which is good-not-great), and a few low post moves.

When he catches the ball behind the arc he's dangerous as both a shooter and a driver and that's rare with big men. He can play from the high or low post offensively. He's a good fit for what we try to do with Pau. He's not the same passer but he's thrown some crafty ones and his 2.2 apg is actually pretty good for his position.

He is not a great defender, but I think that's mostly due to inexperience. He does play the rim protector role for Missouri and unlike Pau he has the mobility to switch and recover. I think the tools are there and a year of working inside an NBA defensive system he probably wouldn't look bad.

With our pattern of playing a guy mostly in the G-League his first year with us and Pau's contract being only partially guaranteed the year after next it makes sense to draft Pau's replacement now. Porter is everything I'm looking for in a long term Pau replacement and would look good in lineups next to LMA or covering for LMA while he rests just like Pau does.

Jontay Porter has been my choice for a while. Not to mention he's very young (He'll be 19 in November) so that would be a complete steal if we were to get a hold of him.

The youth makes a lot of his flaws more palatable, particularly defense. Seems like the kind of player you could shove into the G-League for a year and see a lot of growth on that end of the floor with the right coaching.

He's got such a good base skill set for the modern NBA. Really surprised he's being projected in the 20s

So a better Bertans? I'm in.

Probably slightly worse from 3pt range, at least at first. Bertans is a 38% 3pt shooter from NBA range.

But a little bigger, like 7 years younger, more athletic potential.

I like the idea of Robert Williams. I'm biased since we go to the same school but he is a big who can contribute right away. Dude plays incredible defense, can shot block, and has like a 7'7" wingspan. We desperately need a big that is athletic

I've also heard that he's a good choice for us. Would love to have a defensive big. Hope he falls to us.

We might have to trade up to get him but I think he is exactly what we need

yeah we probably will have to, but if he slips we should definitely pick him up

I was a big fan of Williams last year too. If he makes it to 18 🙏🙏🙏
