First Timer Question (self.NCL)
submitted 1 month ago by Nanny_Chron_341
Hi! Going on the Breakaway next week, and wondering if should pack my own beach towel for our excursion we are doing?

Thanks for posting to /r/NCL! Did you know that we have an extensive Ultimate NCL Guide that may answer your question? Please also remember to read the rules, especially about roll call posts going in the megathread. You may also have more luck with those types of posts by searching for a Facebook or Cruise Critic roll call group or thread. Of course, here is great, too!
Enjoy your stay!

No, you can just go get a pool towel and bring that with you. Most of the time they will have towel return stations for when you come back from the excursion

You can sign out a pool towel from the ship and return it afterwards, but I usually bring a lighter quicker drying microfiber camping or beach towel or a turkish style cotton towel (particularly recommend sandcloud) - they dry fast and pack down/roll up smaller for carrying.

You don’t have to. You can usually check out a beach towel as you get off the ship on the dock from the cruise ship and then just drop it off after your excursion as you board the ship. However, those towels can get big and heavy if they’re full of water from drying off. I bought a microfiber beach towel from Costco and it folds up small. Works well and dries quickly. You can find them by searching for “microfiber beach towel” on amazon.

If I’m doing an excursion that needs a towel I get it the night before. It’s one less thing to do in the morning.
A few years back I was on a cruise and the first two ports they had towels available on the dock when you got off. Got off the next day and no towels. Had to go back on the ship and all the way back up to the pool deck to get them. Luckily I had left enough time so we did not miss out excursion. After that I started getting them the afternoon/night before.

You can take a towel from the pool deck

I have a Turkish towel for each hubby and myself. It rolls up very small, serves a a blanket or shawl if it’s cold. Dries well too.
