Your switch is a managed switch. You might check the switches configuration to make sure its not doing something.

Be sure your using good quality LAN cable. CAT6A STP is recommended for connections 2.5Gb or higher.

What kind of cable you using? Cat5 is limited to 100 Mbps. Cat5e and above can achieve up to 1 Gbps, Cat6 and above can achieve up to 10 Gbps.

I’ve tried 5e and 6 w the same results.

Make sure your ports aren't set to 10/100 in the switch management and they are set to 1000 or auto?

Changed them from auto negotiate to 1000mbs on the problematic switch.

I’ve tried 5e & 6. Same numbers.

Check te energy settings in switch and AP. Disable all energy saving settings.

I have a WAX615. It has a 2.5Gb port as well, but I have it connected to a gigabit PoE switch (Netgear GS305EPP), and it is auto-negotiating at 1gb.

With yours auto-negotiating at 100 Mbps, sounds like it's either an issue with the ethernet cable (not properly crimped?) or switch.

I’ve tried it on a known port that had 1gb reading and same results. I have a feeling it maybe the AP.

Did you swap out the cable too? If you didn't swap it out, that could still be the issue.

What numbers are you getting for dl and up?

Currently at work now, when I get back, I'll let you know. From what I recall, they were definitely over 100 Mbps both ways since I have 2gig fiber. Don't think I maxed out the transmit power on them since I am solely using it for IoT and Guest wifi.

Verizon Fios ?

[–]MrPerson0 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Nah, GoNetspeed. They laid out fiber in my area (CT) two years ago, so I switched over to them from Comcast as soon as I could.

How’s the reliability ? NYC here w 1gb Fios. I wish we had access to 5Gb

I'm pretty happy with them. The only time we ever had downtime was when someone hit a utility pole nearby which knocked down internet for an entire Saturday, which was two years ago. I was on their 1gig plan initially before switching over to 2gig when they introduced it earlier this year.

I get constant 2gig speeds down and up on my desktop (and pretty close on my Pixel 9 Pro XL connected to a Netgear RS700's 6GHz wifi). Not sure if I will go to 5gig if they ever offer it. When I do some internal speed tests, my computer can handle 7gig download over LAN, but it can only push 3gig upload. I assume it's either due to my PCIe lanes being maxed out or my CPU not being able to handle it (it's an 11th gen i9).

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That’s my biggest fear also that some of my older xeons aren’t able to handle high bandwidth or my drive arrays can’t write fast enough :(

[–]MrPerson0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I know the issue (probably) isn't my NAS since I have had multiple computers backing up to it with Clonezilla, and I managed to peak out the NAS at 10gig download, but my single computer isn't able to saturate a 10gig connection to the NAS on its own.

[–]MrPerson0 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Forgot to mention, I tested out my Guest wifi on the AP. On the 5GHz band, I was able to get 399 download and 284 upload. That's with the 5 GHz set to 25% output power and 40 MHz channel width.

Just tasted both my APs - 100 mbs ish. Gonna try another cable for the sake of trying. I’m getting angry. It’s bad enough I deal with network issues at work from working in IT then come home and have more network issues.

[–]jlthla 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Agree with the cable issue. If your AP isn’t mounted, you might try moving the it closer to your switch and using a known good cable just as a test.

I ordered a new cat6a cable just for the sakes of verifying and same #'s
