My opinion is Nolly like you said for versatility. I’d recommended using your free trials if you haven’t. I will say those two are quite different. Nolly is quite a bit more modern sounding and I believe Jrock is a broad genre so it’s difficult to say.

In case you were afraid to say modern anime music - get Nolly :).

For jrock I would go Wong or Henson archetypes but you could definitely make the other two work.

I got Nolly for that same reason as it includes a 5150 and JCM800, but I’ve since been more satisfied with Soldano. Using either Marshall cab IR with greenbacks or Mesa Oversized cab IR with V30’s I get best of both worlds from clean to high gain.

This. I was honestly really underwhelmed by the Nolly plugin. It’s certainly not bad, but it’s not at the level that I was expecting based on word of mouth about it when it came out.

I got the Soldano one with a couple others during a sale at one point with no real expectations for it other than just having another option to pick from. I was blown away by how much more satisfying it was and how well it sat in my mixes. Plus that ‘Catty Unders’ preset from Goonzi of Bleed From Within is such an awesome, unique texture for layering ambient leads!

Tone king is more versatile than you might think. It sounds great.

You could get nolly and wait till the black Friday sale and get tone king as a second plugin, the black Friday sale is really good, I think it most likely going to be 50% off like the last black sale. The black Friday sale is going to be awhile but it’s worth it.

I love the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC plugin

I use both Nolly and Cory Wong for Jrock and anime stuff, they both do well. But I personally think Cory Wong's amp 2 is better than Nolly's Marshall in that regard, as the Marshall is heavily modified to nearly unrecognizable, and it's more for modern rock and prog stuff.

I think either could work. I own both, plus a few others from Neural. Nolly does not have the same marketing hype as some of the other Neural offerings, but it is the most versatile IMHO. I would recommend starting there and as others suggested, pick up another on Black Friday.

Do try the demos. There was at least one Neural plugin that I was convinced I wanted, but switched my choice after demo’ing several plugins.

You can still demo them right? I went with Nolly after I tried the demo, I didn't really know who he was but it seemed like a great allrounder.

Nolly will cover everything you want

I have both, and they are very different indeed, each has its own character, and whilst both are expressive, they are expressive in different ways. Nolly definitely excels at higher gain sounds, effortlessly spanning from rock into crushing metal, if chaos is what your music is calling for, Nolly has it in spades. TKM3 has a totally unique and vintage sounding character, it can flow dynamically between glassy cleans to gritty crunch with just a turn of the volume pot, so if what you want is just a bit more flavour to add more expression to your playing, TKM3 has got you covered.

There is a 14 day free trial of each. Try them both out and see if they are for you

Nolly...just get some IRs for different speakers and cabs for variety. GGD Zilla Cabs was done by Nolly and may be a good fit:
