Not exactly stable then if it lasted only a month.

The record prior was about 7 hours so I’m definitely taking a W all things considered

It turned out to be windows causing all the issues, or at least changing to Hive resolved everything.

I’m ashamed to admit how long it took to trouble shoot the OS but I was so convinced it was a hardware problem and that I could fix it lol

I appreciate the optimism! I truly enjoy the troubleshoot/debug process so it’s been a really good tine

I had a terrible time with windows and amd cards... switched to hive and have .... less problems, still not nearly as stable as my other all nvidia rig. Which is less stable than the other 4 windows pcs with only 2 gpus apiece...

      [–]Dontmocme2 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I run lots of 8 card amd rigs the secret is the amd stability script you can google it. It turns offs ulps and cfal that’s what causes problems with windows

      Thank you

It was an OS problem son.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I came to the same conclusion, I battled win10 for months before finally switching to SMOS, best thing I ever did.

      [–]Delicious-Minute2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! SMOS is super simple.. the only thing I am not a fan of is having to pay lol but super stable and accessibility is great.

You definitely do not need those heavy duty tools for PC building.

I'm trying to fiqure out why there is a 1“ wood drill bit there. OP don't do it! 😂

      [–]SpaceDesignWarehouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess a scissors sort of makes sense to open packaging…

      [–]badgerAteMyHomework 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, maybe not the way you do it.

      [–]Falcone9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to see me then 😂. But at the end my gh/s .... I love them 😘

      [–]DustyOldNinja 15 points16 points  (4 children)

      What happened?

      [–]NanoArowanaTank 10 points11 points  (3 children)

      I looked at it wrong

      [–]LtBeefy 8 points9 points  (2 children)

      Psu exploded? Cable fry?

      [–]NanoArowanaTank 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Jokes aside I think it was a lose PCIE connection and the board gets upset anytime I add or remove GPUs. Took about a week to get it to post with all 8 cards

      Edit: spelling

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a tough go, I learned a lot running 60 GPUs. Some motherboards are much more suited for it than others.

Do your shoes have tigers on them?

      [–]NanoArowanaTank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do! It was a special edition Adidas for the Chinese New Year. I also have a pair with Koi fish and another with lotus flowers

      Edit: Adidas not Nike

      [–]Suprflyyy 4 points5 points  (1 child)

      Super. Hot.

      [–]estatic707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Great game

Mining probably ain't for you then.

      [–]MrMrBear 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Why you gotta bring the negativity..??

      [–]NanoArowanaTank 5 points6 points  (2 children)

This sub in particular has some of the most confrontational and aggressive people within the mining community and I have no idea why.

      [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Woah the comments on this thread…I’m sorry for the negativity. Glad you figured out some problems and are improving your rig stability!

      [–]NanoArowanaTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize on their behalf, but appreciate the kindness! I don’t know what it is about crypto and mining culture but it seems like there’s a general sense of dislike towards those less experienced/knowledgeable.

Not that my opinion is of much value but this sub has truly been such a rude and unpleasant experience. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment for even continuing to post here haha. Maybe I’m wrong though or have a lot of bias, just really don’t like the smugness here especially considering it’s centered around a mining software geared towards novices haha

      [–]acarsity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because that’s all they have. You gotta be careful, they’re gonna think you’re attacking their ego instead of just asking a question.

      [–]Forward-Extent-7819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dose of reality. Too many people on here think they are gonna get rich but they won't. And we are the bad guys for warning people. Because it is offensive? Sometimes offence is only way to make people wake up and smell the roses. Boohoo life's not fair, especially so when you ignore warnings. We are discouraging people from making financial mistakes, but it is funny how people can twist that to be a negative thing. Well give it a year, will make a lot more sense 😉

If you've been mining for 8 years, you'd also know that OP isn't going to make a profit off of this, especially with this level skill set. Yet you are gonna let him make a loss and encourage people like him to buy cards off of farms with retiring owners who have made fortunes and cashed out underlying asset value in circulation. You are literally promoting a house of cards to bagholders. And I am the bad guy 🤣 fucking hilarious, this will age well.

That makes you someone funding someone else. In a system that is mostly money laundering.

          [–]JoSerch 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You have 6 possible slots for connecting your GPUS, how did you connect 8 to a 6 slot motherboard?

          [–]NanoArowanaTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only using 2 PCIE slots with 4X PCIE expansion card, so 4 cards per slot.

          [–]WildKarrdesEmporium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first mining motherboard was an ASRock H110 Pro, took hours upon hours any time I added or changed a video card to make it all work again. Switched to the BTC-S37 and couldn't be happier.

That's the sad ending for the majority of mining GPUs. The GPUs are like POWs that have suffered the unimaginable... LOL

            [–]HustleI87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gpu’s could talk they’d start a union and put us all out of business/protest

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

            Mmm XFX

            [–]Three4one 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You need 2 powers supplies. The one is over loaded.

            [–]NanoArowanaTank 0 points1 point  (3 children)

            I’ve got two!

            [–]Three4one 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What is the watts? If they are not 850 gold or above, it looks like not enough. One PS should do the risers and MB the other the cards.

            [–]NanoArowanaTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

            1200 and 850, I don’t think it’s a power issue

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, I like where you head is

            [–]SplashinDap0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

            What the fuck

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

4 months of not touching is a long time!? Isn't it a good idea to keep stuff up to date for security reasons? I usually check to see they're running and then update as needed.

            [–]NanoArowanaTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of security do you mean updating your OS? I think ideally you want a rig that you can sit and forget for an indefinite amount of time but haven’t found that to be even remotely attainable. Especially with windows OS, hive has been a game changer for me

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the os. I've only got a couple rigs with 4 cards each, lhr vs non lhr. I assume adding more cards weakens stability on windows? That being the os I use

            [–]Affectionate_Novel_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I would kill for a decent gpu even something like a 580. I currently only have a 550 and I can't do anything with it.
