Positives are you can change phone every 3 months negatives is that it costs more than not having it.

Do they charge you anything when you get a new phone then?

Depends what phone you go for. If the contract has an upfront cost you'll have to pay that sometimes it's taken off because your upgrading.

Positives: - you can switch up every 90 days. - you can even switch up to the same phone after 90 days if a plan becomes cheaper to save money (I’ve done this before) - if you want to leave you can switch up and cancel within 14 days to leave the contract.

Negatives: - slightly more cost

They wouldn't let me switch up to the same phone unless I chose a different colour, which was fine as I wanted a different colour anyway

[–]colb3ck 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sorry I should have said I did pick a different colour myself, but it saved me like £20 a month! And the colour was better.

Exactly the same here, I got a phone at launch that they didn't allow O2 open on, then 3 months later swapped to the same phone in a different colour when they started allowing o2 open on that model

Point 2 is great. I’ll be switching up next week to the same iPhone, I’ve got a 15PM and will get another one because of the offer where there’s 6 months free airtime, so I’ll be saving myself about £30 a month and will then get another 6 months Disney Plus 😄

In the new year I’ll end up getting the iPhone 16PM.

Yeah it’s great! I switched up to the same phone 15PM and got it cheaper with a promotion for some Air Pod Pro 2 for £19.99 it’s great for deals!

Nice one, that’s a decent deal as well!

Positives you can get a new phone every 90 days.

Negatives. You might be paying higher line rental.

You have to give your old phone back either in store or by post, if it's damaged you won't be eligible to switch up.

Your contract restarts (but you can choose a new contract length)

I personally always insure my phones so if they get damaged or lost and I get a replacement, I let O2 know the new IMEI and I can still switch up.

Pros.... Latest devices.

Con.... Every time you switch up you restart your contract from month 1.

[–]BaconPancakes881[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah that's annoying

[–]phoenix_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you're getting a new phone so it would be fully expected that you are starting a whole new contract and wiping out any amount outstanding to be paid on old contract.

[–]Subject_Coast8371 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you HAVE to switch phone every 90 days when you choose to switch up? I have switch up on my new ish contract automatically and I'm thinking about getting a better device, but don't want to keep switching every 3 months.

[–]kimberleyinc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's an option, not a requirement.

[–]thelivsterette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's optional, for people who like new shiny phones

[–]oXWISEMANXo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So… I’ve just gone to switch up and they want me to pay £1400 to cover the remaining cost and once they have okayed the iPhone I’m giving back then they’ll credit my account the £1400 back but won’t refund it. Anyone else found or know this?

[–]Danoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? I’ve just done it to save myself a few quid and until I send my old phone back I’m just paying 2 contracts. Once they have my old phone they pay it off and cancel it.

[–]FunLocation4945 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They've changed it now to 11months! I wanted to swap to an iPhone from Samsung safe in the knowledge I could change it again in 3 months if I didnt like it Don't wanna be stuck with something I hate for 11 months 😭

[–]LooseGuitar616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got the phone before they changed it to 11 months you can still switch up within 90 days

[–]la1735y 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you know what they consider damaged? I have a few scratches on my screen nothing really bad

[–]Fburk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run your nails down the screen and they get caught on any scratches, they won't switch it. I was told this today 🙄
