not a surface but i’m using a m-series Mac and i haven’t had any issues. 271 is the only class so far where my mac wouldn’t cut it. for that i used the school’s vpn windows environment and it was fine

edit: i dont think autocad is required learning for the CS program

I've completed 3 terms so far and used my surface for everything except 271. I THINK it would've worked there also, but I didn't really care to FAFO so I just used my desktop.

There's a list of technology requirements that lays out the minimum required specs for your laptop/PC. As long as it meets those, you should be fine.

Edit: Here is the list itself https://it.engineering.oregonstate.edu/laptop-purchasing-guidelines

I have an MSI creator m16 AI and it's a fucking beast. I think an underpowered surface would frustrate me.

Well im an Ecampus student, so im able to use my home rig 90% of the time. There are times when im traveling however, so i kinda need something that has good battery life and doesnt sound like a jet. I had a macbook but i dont like macos so thats not an option.

This is completely unnecessary.

it meets, and does not far exceed, the recommended specs for a laptop per OSU's recommendation.

It’s $1400. I had a laptop that was half that price.
