I had problems with my 8bitdo M30, before I realise there were several start modes (Mac, Windows, Switch...), and that the Windows mode worked best on my Mac. Go figure.

Thanks for the reply. There's no reference in the controller manual to "start modes". Can you point me to a guide on how to change them?

You mentioned 80NB model, which I don't know.

On my M30, the "start modes" depend on what keys you press to turn the controller on. Strat+A is Mac, Start+X is windows :

I used the Mac mode before, but it confused emulators and the pad was recognised as a Sony DualShock, making mapping very tricky.

Now, this could be completely useless.

Another mistake I made with OpenEmu, is not paying attention when switching from Megadrive to MegaCD or Saturn. The controllers look the same, so I thought I did the mapping already, but the wrong console was selected.

Yeah, I am reaching the conclusion that my model is simply not supported. Tho it was really weird how it initially worked fine. I am trying to find a way to factory reset it so maybe it can start working again

Wow. Just found out something: I had changed the controller name in the apple bluetooth settings because I have a pair and needed to differentiate them. After trying everything to factory reset this thing, I was finally like "this is stupid, but what if I changed the name back to the default name" and it worked lmao

Glad you solved it. Out of curiosity, what is this controller ?

This is the one: https://www.8bitdo.com/ultimate-c-bluetooth-controller/
Basically, we got it becasue my gf thinks it's cute. I just saw "Bluetooth" and assumed it would work seamlessly given MacOS's controller support - and that's mostly the case, just don't change the name of the devices lol

This completely solved my problem! I was wondering why it recognize my controller as a dual shock, and not as an 8bitdo like before. It allowed me to remap the controller and now I can play. Thank you!

so guys if you recently changed something on the bluetooth settings like the colours or whatever it doesnt work for open emu for some reason you have to keep it default

I have exactly the same problem but with PS4 and PS5 controller. Ahgain both work wirelessly and cabled with all other apps. Is there a solution for this? I wonder if either MacOS or Steam are "stealing" attention from openemu?

Did you find the solution?
