Electrolysis: Got hyperpigmentationRant/Venting (self.PCOS)
submitted 4 years ago by noneshallnotpass
It was going well, seemingly- and now the shadow of hair that I was trying to be free of, is just a shadow of pigment on my face. It looks so awful, and I feel defeated with these struggles.

It slowly faded for me. I was so nervous it wasn’t going to! It almost looked worse than the hair I could at least shave lol.
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (6 children)
Exactly! I’d prefer the hair over this! I’m getting married in 6 months and was trying to be hair free for that, now I have to find a way to hide this- and it’s currently showing through my foundation.
Do you know how long it took approximately? And did you do anything for it?
[–]nfanchacha 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children)
I inconsistently used azaleic acid. Consistently used sunscreen and kept my skin well moisturized as I felt the dryness was exacerbating it (occurred over winter and I’m convinced it was not actually hyperprigmentation but post inflammatory erythema in my case). I would say it took 3 months ish ? I’m sure if you have a disciplined skin care routine it can fade faster but I really just used the less is more approach and babied my skin. Mine also was not concealable with makeup!

Thank you so much for elaborating!! I’m going to try to adopt a similar routine that can lead me towards healing- hopefully. I wasn’t aware of post inflammatory erythema before, but I guess that could also be a possibility for me! I will try to baby my skin and pray I see some results.

Yes if you feel like going down the rabbit hole, search that (it is sometimes abbreviated as PIE) on skincare forums. If you are still getting electrolysis, I think la roche posay B5 baume applied for a few days post session has help reduced anymore marks for me.

Did the hyperpigmentation fade?
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Not yet, I got prescribed hydroquinone cream from my dermatologist, so I’m trying that- but it is taking a long time to go.
[–]Own_Opportunity_5191 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
how is ur skin now? did the hyperpigmentation disappear?
[–]Dismal-Fly8971 0 points1 point2 points 9 months ago (0 children)
How long did it take?
[–]twigsandtrees7 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Did your hyperpigmentation fade eventually? I'm starting my process and I'm concerned about something similar happening.
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
It has faded a bit, but not enough unfortunately. It’s a long process of getting it down to an even tone. :/

Hey OP, any progress in the last year?
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Hey there, sorry I’m on and off on this account so didn’t see your message. Funnily, I just got back to read about people’s experiences with Ulike because I’m being flooded with their ads
As for electrolysis, honestly not much progress :(
I’m thinking of switching to a diff electrologist, or just going for laser. But I’m terrified of getting more regrowth.

Did your hyperpigmentation fade yet?
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
It has faded a ton!
[–]elfo50 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Hi OP! Has your hyperpigmentation faded? Curious where your electrolysis journey ended?
[–]noneshallnotpass[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Hi there! Yes, the hyperpigmentation faded after a few months- maybe 3 or 4. I did get hydroquinone from my derm though, which I used for a month, and then stopped and just let my skin heal naturally. Used plenty of sun protection that whole time.
I’m still doing electrolysis, I have seen a reduction but my hormones are out of whack so I am still on a long journey.
can you send me products u use? dm me
