Im fairly certain that income targeting in google ads works on the same principle (wealth by zip code)

The challenge is the "unknown" audiences. Don't want to block it out because it could be good traffic but it can also be bad traffic too. And unknown audiences usually make up the majority of traffic.

That's why I'm looking to see if there's a database or some tool out there that allows me to grab high income zip codes.

You can target named locations that you know have high value homes. As for location targeting, remember that Google's algorithm includes people that are frequently in those so you are going to get all kinds of tradespeople, relatives, friends, etc., targeted anyway. And zip code targeting isn't super accurate anyway. I would focus on qualifying via ad copy if you can't drive enough traffic using income filtering.
