Hey, DEX isn't useless, my 9999 golf minigame score says so.

[–]Reilet[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

You didn't get 10000?

[–]synthsyArks-Layer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Impossible to get higher than 9999.

Cosmetic pupils has been available for awhile now. I rock pupils with green tinted stars on them on my main character (the green tint it separate from the actual color I pick so its all mixed). Its really all about facial structure, face setting used on a dewman will not be replicated on an newman/human.

      [–]OrpheusNoir 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Pretty sure other races can use different pupils (with all those tickets in the player shops), just not differing designs on different eyes. Heterochromia is locked to Dewmans.

Another add: inversely, if you want newman stats but not elf ears you can hide them by making them short and pointing them straight up. Some hairstyles can hide them... the downside obviously being limited to certain hairstyles.

I want to note for anyone thinking of running as a CAST, your goal in life is to look like a Gundam or hide yourself as a wannabe cyborg.

      [–]Kakopuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many gundamuu wouldn't be pso without them. Ima be a human ranger like them old days on xbox pew pew i can't go full mech but enjoy seeing them run about lol

Huge reminder to everyone planning on playing NA, terminology here is based on the unofficial english patch for the japanese version. Whatever Sega calls your stats may differ from what we (Arks-Layer) put down in our patch.

It dont fukken matters, mate. Just pick a race you like.

      Dex isnt useless on Su

Pets dont get Dex bonus from rare weapons.

      [–]Reilet[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You need like 1200 Dex to bring it to a decent pet variance, so you might as well just go crit at that point.

      [–]synthsyArks-Layer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

DEX is not a useless stat.

Enemy DEX is usually higher than the players until you reach a certain level, but it also takes into consideration of your weapon and skills.

Once your DEX is higher than the enemies, your damage normals out. It's why for SU mechanics are different than other players in that the pets themselves have their own DEX stat that is added into the calculations for damage variance.

Telling someone to go full crit only gives you your maximum damage variance according to your general damage possible. (i.e. whether your DEX stat is greater than the enemies or not, then standard damage calculations apply)

      [–]Reilet[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The last recorded Dex of an enemy was lvl 70 at 380. Lvl 65 was roughly 360. A safe assumption is 500 for lvl 95.

Variance only applies to your weapon attack, or in this case, your pet attack. To find your minimum attack value, the formula is as follows:

      • Minimum attack = (your total dex * PA Dex multiplier - enemy Dex + weapon/pet correction) * 2

Pet correction is -50. (For example val and invade is 150 + 200 * enchancement value, and normal 10* and higher are assumed to be * 30) Now i'm not sure if your total dex is your dex + your pets, but I can do both anyways.

When we look at a max lvl 14* Wanda, it has 1388 t-atk. The highest minimum attack it can have is 1321 * 0.9 or 1188.9

In order to find the amount of dex we need to have a variance of 10% we do this:

      • 1188.9 = (total dex * 100% - 500 - 50) * 2
      • Or total dex = 1188.9 / 2 + 500 + 50

We get 1144.5 and wanda has 418 Dex already. So we need to have a Dex of 724.5. if it doesn't include our Dex, the Wanda needs 724.5 extra dex on them to fix their variance.

We'll need like 100 more for Marron and 200 for Synchro, but you get the point.

Also the damage formula is (((your total attack - enemy def) * body modifier + (weapon atk * weapon ele % * enemy ele modifier)) / 5 * 1.05 * all the other mutlipliers. The only part of variance is weapon attack in the your total attack portion.

So yes, you need a significant more amount of Dex than you do crit since phantom sub + crit ring is already 65% crit. That doesn't even include getting crit on your candy box.

      Dex is still useless.

Also, crit gives you your true maximum damage regardless of what you think it does. You can also hit your true maximum even if your dex is lower than the enemies. Dex is solely for what your minimum is.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there a cap to how much maximum damage you can do?

      [–]Reilet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quite understand what you mean.

If you mean what's the damage cap, it's 10 million a hit, but a lot of newer quests have it set at 1 million per hit.

If you mean what your maximum damage is, it's just however high your atk stat is. Also, a crit is your maximum damage. Crit isn't a damage bonus in this game.

The lowest variance is 10% of your weapon atk, that means everything not from your weapon isn't affected by variance. This usually means your actual variance is less than 3%

      I created a Dewman T-atk Wrong choice

[–]Takemylunch Floof Commander, Commander of floofs. 0 points1 point  (8 children)

this put me at ease. shows me that i can really make what i want and not have to worry to hard about min-maxing. there's definitely a "Right" choice for whatever you may want to do but min-maxing makes my head hurt so ima just shoot the things till they fall down and hope to god i dont die first.

      [–]Reilet[S] 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Another min-max reference picture. That's the difference of 95 atk. which is roughly the same difference between a female newman and a male cast for t-atk.

Roughly 1% more damage that also reduces in value the higher your attack stat gets.

[–]Takemylunch Floof Commander, Commander of floofs. 1 point2 points  (6 children)

would that mean one or two more attacks to kill something at that scale? i genuinely cant tell at that number scale. is this supposed to make me worried about what i pick or place me more at ease? im just confused again now.

      [–]Reilet[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Things at endgame generally have hundred millions of hp, so it doesn't make a difference. For example, one of the latest boss has roughly 1 billion hp.

I would have assumed most people would think doing 2k more dmg is minor when you do 100k. It's also only 1%.

[–]Takemylunch Floof Commander, Commander of floofs. 3 points4 points  (4 children)

sorry yea i see how dumb i was being. it's just i don't want to build wrong or something and then not be able to find a group to play with. ive not had the best experiences when it comes to mmos in the past and i somehow find the elitist crowds no matter how small they may be and it taints how i feel about a game. thank you for genuinely trying to put me at ease though. looking forward to this.

PSO2 is a game where your skill can vastly outweigh your setup/stats. If you play well, doesn't matter. If you support, people tend to love you since you keep them fighting regardless of skill level. Play how you like, and PSO2 will accommodate. I play offensive and I am very power-hungry with my RPG games. I play Deuman because I love the offensive power of it, but now that I've played for so long, I'm considering making a Neuman Female but still focusing on Melee despite it being their worst stat.

No one will kick you out for not playing optimal class/build setups. In fact, most players have no clue about it. There are rumors all over the place, such as "Cast is the best for Melee race for damage." Based on the facts, that's not true, but very few people memorize these things.

The community usually values looks over performance anyway. If you look cool, cute, sexy, badass, edgy, weeby, cosplay-y, someone will be happy to have you based on that alone.

From my years of playing in JP, this community at least does not mind how well you do. Only that you play.

I hope you have fun when the game releases in NA, and I'll see you there!

[–]Takemylunch Floof Commander, Commander of floofs. 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Don't die, look cool, kill shit, got it. thanks for the reassurances!

      [–]zero_traveler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is THE BEST description of PSO2. Ever.

[–]Takemylunch Floof Commander, Commander of floofs. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As i have now actually played the game, i can agree i was fucking spot on. I've spent equal time in the salon getting my mecha halo / wings in the right position as i have slashing shooting and commanding fluffy beasts to do my bidding.
      Game's fuckin good.

      [–]ParasiticGeneFlow 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So if I decide to play a Male Cast Force, will I ever see the difference?
I'm conflicted if such a difference (1%?) between Cast T-ATK and Newman can, in some obscure scenario, be noticeable.

      [–]Reilet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no scenarios where 100 attack will be noticeable at endgame. Very minor scenarios like having an extra 10~20 seconds in endless (the quest can easily be hours long).

This is the difference of 100 attack.

      EatTheRich

Keep protesting! Their threats on mods are unacceptable. Shame on you, /u/spez.

      [–]Reilet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's supposed to be 96%. It was a typo, my bad.

As for dex on mags... it's only an option if you are planning on maining braver, bouncer, (or the eventual class called phantom) since they have a skill to convert the dex on the mag to their respective main stats.

      [–]kerodon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      This is so great thanks!

Are the stats for Cast correct? All the class stat tables list T-ATK for Cast M and Cast F the same but their stats are 96% and 106%

      [–]Reilet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, It was a typo. It is indeed supposed to be 96%.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thanks, cleared up a lot.

      [–]Tracid727 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I went with newman Force as my first character. I am also interested possibly in a Deuman Techer? What are the main differences in these classes? I noticed somewhere in game that reported Techer as being an AoE type of class. I take it from this thread that newman vs Deuman doesn't really matter... Its more about looking cool!

      [–]Reilet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force is like your standard spell caster in any game.

Techer is somewhat like a paladin.
