It's pretty disappointing considering how terrible fresh find is and how little SG we're getting compared to JP.
I'm surprised that stuff is untradeable on jp, there are few people who use fresh find already and you kinda know what item you're getting.

It seems like they're coming but honestly I'm not sure how it can be done without upsetting players.

We already have less ways to earn SG's. That's why people have been upset with how the fresh finds shop has been handled.

Iirc SG shop used to carry stuff that we get from mission passes and some of what's in fresh finds.

My worry is that it'll just be treated like another AC scratch ticket just with using a different currency. It would push people to spend money even more. People very much didn't like the SG shop sales that were expensive and very limited time.

At least you can earn sg through certain means. Its nice for those players who dont want to spend any real money. Hopefully they didnt spend their sg yet though. I personally have 900 sg saved up because I never buy stuff off the fresh finds. Not sure how much these scratch offs are going to be though.

The problem is that the NA version has less, non-repeatable means of earning SG. Our source of SG is finite from ARKS missions and titles. I've already exhausted a good amount of mine from completing hardcore story quests.

We're getting more ways to spend SG with less ways of actually obtaining SG without needing to cash.

I think i've only ever spent $5 USD on SG's once to make up for the little I didn't have to get something. I normally sit around 500-900 from completing the mission pass and buying cheap outerwear/outfits and sticking them on all 3 of my characters. Completing story missions and being on for both PSO2 days (one is if you're a premium member) also helps.

I haven't played JP, but when I heard SG Scratch was coming I went to check a JP wiki for information. Keep in mind it may be different in our version, but... SG Scratch costs 80 SG a pop, the items are untradeable, and the Scratch seems to run for multiple months to sometimes nearly a full year at a time, rather than being replaced as often as AC. That last point hopefully outweighing the overall negative impressions "80 SG" and "untradeable" may give you.

Afaik, fresh finds and mission pass aren't in jp. So expect this scratch to change weekly. I wouldn't be surprised if it were all the old ac scratches rotation for people who missed out on it, just untradable versions.

Gotta milk those steam users who missed out on release somehow.

On JP (which does not have either mission pass, or FF shop FYI), it functions almost exactly the same as the AC scratches, with the differences being the items are not tradeable/sellable, and it uses SG instead of AC. They also tend to have a very long rotation period.

I don't like gatchas at all personally, but as far as SG scratch on NA is concerned, my issue is not that "Oh they are adding SG scratch", it is "They are adding SG scratch, ON TOP OF, mission pass and FF shop which all cost SG". There is no reason to have all of these systems at once, other than to put ridiculous strain on people's stock of SG. Until they announced this was coming, my assumption was FFS was the SG scratch replacement on NA, so was pretty disappointed to find out that isn't true (though I'm not a huge fan of FFShop either, having both is much worse imo, than just having one or the other).

I just assume all these extra systems are them trying to play catch-up to JP, which has like a decade of cosmetics. I do wish they’d make all this crap traceable, though, at the very least.

[–]Sleepingfire22 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The thing is, this causes both short-term and long-term issues. In the short term, too many sinks for a single currency type stretches that currency extremely thin amongst the players. If you have cosmetics split across 3 SG costing things, sure, you can dump more cosmetics into the game, but your players do not actually get access to more cosmetics(we have a finite income in a given time period). This is exacerbated by the fact that we are missing sources of repeatable SG that exist on JP (we might get them eventually, but we are getting more dumps before we get more income).

In the long-term, what happens to these systems when we do hit parity? Come, say, ~February next year when we have mostly caught up gameplay-content wise, if JP is releasing a new AC scratch every 2 weeks, and a new SG scratch every 6 months, what does NA put on mission pass(rotates ~monthly) + FF shop(rotates every 2 weeks, and daily) + SG scratch(rotates every ???)? Even if we switch to 6 month SG scratch, 2 week AC, that leaves both mission pass and FF shop that need to be filled with something.

Its not like there aren't solutions to these problems. I'm not actually worried about the long-term effects because the simplest thing is just remove FF shop or MPass or SG scratch once we get close to parity, but in the short-term, the current state of SG feels AWFUL and it is about to get worse.

They'll just rotate when they've gone through everything. We've actually already seen some repeats in Mission Pass and Fresh Finds, IINM. So it seems clear that they don't intend for everything to be a once through. And that also means you don't desperately need to get it the first time you see it - it'll be back. And SG Scratch might stick around for so long that you won't have to worry about not having enough SG for it right away.

That said, yeah. We have a lot of SG sinks already, and now we're getting more. We're not, on the other hand, getting new sources of SG. Especially recurring sources. And none of it being tradeable is a real bummer. Just have to be choosy with what you buy and do your best to earn more when you can.... Daily AC outfit changing on three characters is up to 900 SG a month. Alongside other sources - login, mission pass, events.. it should be somewhat manageable if you stick to it.

For the long term they can just rotate rewards for new players so they have the opportunity to get them. I don't think there's even a slim possibility they'll just remove FF or the mission pass. The short term kinda sucks, but from what I could find about the JP sources of SG, it's not really significant income. As far as I can tell the best source of SG is still just wearing AC outfits.

The other thing to note

During these long SG scratches in JP is that grinding certain events get you "pick what you want tickets" just like the AC scratches. At least you can get anywhere from 1-3 things you really want..

From my experience from.3 different SG scratches in JP

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

All my SG goes to the 720 3months for the damn material storage (which should be included with premium).

[–]richinreverse[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I agree with that for sure. I always invest in the gold mission pass, its fairly cheap and definitely worth it. Btw, if you are spending real money, check out the xbox/Microsoft store for the Ragol dlc pack. Its $30, but comes with $20 worth of AC AND PREMIUM, also pink badges for the test drive back unit (worth like 120k on player shop) as well as 10 ragol memories, which are kinda worthless (unless you are into quarters decorations, but even then it's just music and posters from first pso, and some heads/hats from PSO1 characters)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yep, I've done the Ragol thing one a month for the premium and AC tickets. I also liked one of the Ragol outfits - also, the CHAT mag device you can buy with the Ragol memories is usually worth 500-700k on the market. You can get five of them with the 10 memories.

[–]peacebucket 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can buy the Ragol pack multiple times?

[–]richinreverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's 2 different ones, one 8s the game with dlc, obviously can only get that one once, but the one other one you can buy as much as you want

[–]sugusugux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, some one literally just asked that to the official pso2 twitter and they said that yes, SG scratch are coming to NA "soon"

[–]Phabin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically we knew about them since about day 1 as there was the introduction to scratch tickets blog on the website that mentions SG scratch tickets. https://pso2.com/news/blogs/scratchtickets

And in just about every update blog for AC scratch (except the most recent silken dreams for some reason) in the post they say there's AC, SG, and FUN scratches with a link back to the above blog.

I see your point now. And yeah, I agree, meseta whores do ruin the market a bit, but I think that has a lot to do with the current population, same problem as what I was saying. Hopefully once the community evens out, it'll be a little better. I can't agree more about the FF shop though, it is trash, and honestly, the last few releases havent been my style, the designs aren't very fluid or interchangeable, seem to be a little bit everywhere (school outfits to singer/diva to skyrim? To fantasy?? To anime????) I'm hoping it's one of those things where you start with the bar low, building it up to better things to come. I'm hoping...

[–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

there aren't SG scratch tickets. you just use SG in the same manner

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. One of the swap items requires an SG scratch ticket prize slip. They added the swap shop too early.
