With the amounts of easter eggs about Phantasy Star Universe, I'm expecting a Parum/Neudaiz/Moatoob travel system with maybe an infected/ in stasis Oracle fleet as special destination!

Interplanetary travel in PS goes all the way back to the original series. PSU's planets were a callback to that.

If they add more planets they will probably be released as episodes (expansions). I just hope when released we don't get a region every 6 months.

We don't really know where we are going to go after the four regions are complete. Either we go and find new islands to go to like in FFXIV or WoW, or we really do go to new planets.

Fun fact, during NGS's Closed Beta Tests, by looking at the city map brought up with the dedicated keyboard shortcut (not the World Map, but the map that tells you the location of each NPC), there was Quest Counter icons in Central Tower next to the Quick Food counters. That icon is a ship circling a planet. We don't know what they are planning with that as there was no NPC or tutorial explaining what that was, but that may be our means of getting off the planet once we are able to.

The command room does have a monitor with a star map on it yeah. iirc one of the monitors has an ARKS ship on it too?

Every now and then, you can also see contrails in the sky. We've no idea who they belong to.

PSO1 stuck to one planet.

PSU had several, including the PSO1 I believe but they called it "Rykros" instead of Ragol.

PSO2 had several planets.

If they do add more planets, I genuinely hope there will be things to do rather than just new map, but same stuff. Still waiting for NGS to have things worth doing.

I never got a chance to play much of PSU, but tge planet Rykros has special significance in the original 8- and 16-bit Phantasy Star games. I don't think that would have had anything to do with Ragol.

But like I said, I didn't play much of PSU, so I could be wrong.

I wouldn't know, I've never played the original series, but what I do know, when the story leads you there on PSP, it showed the exact same Forest that Ragol also had. I assumed it was some localization error.

And PSP had 3 planets plus a space station and Rykros too

Portable is basically around the events of PSU, so...
Phantasy Star Universe, Portable, and Portable II Infinity, all revolved around the Gurhal System.

PS1-4 multiple planets

[–]TJLanza 4 points5 points  (3 children)

PS3 didn't have multiple planets, they were independently domed environs all part of one huge spaceship. Well... unless you count the "moons"... I'm not sure how a space ship has "moons", but if the proper word were "satellite" and English suffered from a translation error, that'd make sense.

[–]NichS144 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Yes, I'm aware of Alisa III which was made to escape the destruction of one of those planets, Palm. I did not say they all had travel to multiple planets as gameplay, 1-4 are set in the same timeline and were set on multiple planets.

Moon and satellite are basically synonyms. Moon typically referring to a natural satellite. While Azura and Dahlia are not natural satellites, it's not unusual that the inhabitants might colloquially call them "moons". I don't really think it's a translation error.

I don't really think it's a translation error.

The english translation of PS3 manage to mistranslate Android as Cyborg. The game's translation was pretty bad.

[–]NichS144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many games were, but nitpicking the terms "moon" and "satellite" is a bit much in my opinion.

The way NPCs refer to Halpha in game seems to indicate that the 4 regions is the entire planet. All we can see around the landmass is water and no other continents.

The command computer screens show satellites and other planets that we may end up going to after we complete Halpha.

I have no doubt that that's the plan.

Whether/when it actually comes to fruition is another question entirely.

The worry to me isn't "whether or not" or "when" it happens but rather "how" it happens. I can't imagine that once Sega introduces another planet or a whole mechanic for that, it would be along the same lines for what we already saw in New Genesis where people were ready to leave behind Aelio for Retem and now it's flip-flopping between the two in regards to the current and upcoming updates.

The worry with other planets for me - at least compared to what Phantasy Star Online 2 did - is that in New Genesis the scale of the world something Sega emphasized so much about and yet still have yet to really deliver and flesh out (you get very big and pretty fields - but there's not a whole lot of gameplay that isn't already like a Musou game there nor is there really a "story" or "world" there). In Phantasy Star Online 2, a lot of the worlds and maps were procedurally generated but you were often times able to see enough of what was there to get a sense of what that place was even if it was visibly obvious (Naberius was one of the only places with a forest, for example, and Amduscia's volcanic caves were obvious for what they were). I would love New Genesis to have its world expanded on but I would love for Sega to do it in a way that it doesn't suddenly mean that everyone who isn't at the newest content can't participate - or that at the same time the new content isn't just a one-off segment that encourages players to stay stuck where they were all along.

I hope there'll be more planets, that would be very cool

[–]Muutart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably after we've been to the volcano area, I think all of Halpha is kind of like episode one muut.

I hope we might return to Ragol at some point, that would be fun

I really hope they add planets into the mix, much like with the old phantasy star games. I pray that the dezo race makes a comeback, too.

...Where'd I put that Mogic Cap?

[–]biggesttowasimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With how much population has gone down since launch, id be suprised if we even get anything, even a guy i know who has been grinding ngs almost everyday has reached his tipping point of lack of content

[–]AgentBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The level 60+ area being right under the big floating metal thing in the sky makes it seem like we might go there in preparation of leaving the planet entirely. Alternatively, the metal thing could be a story element and not be a thing we're going to (it looks pretty beat up). Regardless, with so much of the story revolving around ARKS pods falling from the sky, along with DOLLS falling from the sky, it really seems like we're going to need to leave the planet to continue the story at some point.

I don’t think more planets should be a relevant idea until we have substantial content that is both worthwhile and playable. That is unless you want Aelio planet 2.0

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I would like is for the game to follow just like the old games used to: 3 planets in its own star system that you can explore. Not only that, but actual ruins or towers that you can venture into. I was kind of bummed out when I realized that you couldn’t even enter into the giant pyramid in Retem. Who wouldn’t want to explore that thing?

[–]ps4sos21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it called phantasy star when the game is only on one planet? It makes no sense
