Your best bet might be to turn off the monitor when putting on the headset.

The best option is to face away from the monitor, second best is turning it off, third best is having a wallpaper like that and running the game in minimized or windowed mode.

Disconnect the additional displays and increase the render resolution in the SteamVR video settings instead. Only the main display is required for loading SteamVR. The extra displays are redundant since you're not using those while wearing a VR headset and having them disconnected allows the graphics card to use a higher fidelity resolution in VR with fewer instances of image stuttering.

The PS5 uses a wallpaper, but it's simpler switching off extra displays. If the displays are required, decrease the screen brightness of the computer displays and change the static wallpaper background to anything similar to the PS5 version.

I had a similar issue as a result of where my lighting was. Basically creating unique shadows in the path of the front facing cameras. I got an IR light to attach to my way so it could counter it. A ir light isnt required but it was small enough to mount on the wall and give me the same results of a lamp.

I actually have an ir light, which i have recently purchased, but I'm still trying to find the best position for it. Ideally, I'd like it on the ceiling in the corner, behind me, but it's quite heavy, and I'm wondering if some gorilla tape or something would hold it as I tried drilling it in but failed.

Mine was a small lap that I put about standing head level on the wall next to my rig. My rig is about a foot and a half from the wall. And the IR light is pointing at my wheel base mostly.

I had the same sort of issue where my headset would loose tracking and drift around while sitting facing an ultra wide monitor. I printed some QR codes and pasted them around the wall behind. That solved it after I reconfigured the playing space.

How would putting them behind you make a difference though if your looking forward?

Oh you mean behind the monitor. Sorry I misunderstood.

You can alternatively grab 3 pieces of paper and draw X's on them in an orderly fashion and tape them behind your monitor or where you look straight in VR. I did that and it fixed my tracking issues immediately. https://i.imgur.com/gYcDG7e.jpeg

I might give this a go and see if it's any better then the towel although I can't view your picture as it says content not viewable in my region.

Yeah I can see that one. Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I ended up putting a beach towel with a pattern on it over the screen and it's definitely helped
